I don't mind a little bit of Rawdog. He has some far out there views, but I appreciate that he speaks his mind. I agree with him about the blockchain being public btw. You can see evidence of people conducting investigations into blockchain transactions when looking into the whole MTGox fiasco. If some pimply nerd sitting at home can within reasonable doubt track the transactions of an exchange, you can bet a gold sov that the govt. is working on a way to track peoples transactions through the blockchain. The technology behind bitcoin is not as infallible. What happens in 5, 10, 20 years time as more effort and exponentially increasing computing power goes into hacking wallets and analysing the blockchain and tracking transactions? Can a distributed network of users with no financial incentive to improve the underlying tech of bitcoin actually compete with the combined resources of global governments and criminals in the long term? Edit: This reminded me of this gem from Jan - adding personal identifying information or even connecting social media accounts to bitcoin addresses. Insanity. http://insidebitcoins.com/news/using-the-blockchain-trail-to-track-stolen-bitcoins/28932
