I was just wondering what the best silver coin to collect is in your opinion?
I just wanted to start to collect some interesting silver coins but do not cost a fortune.
    thanks.

This. Anything else is speculating, not collecting.

Why not start with a collection of 1/2oz silver Lunar series 2 coins or maybe 1oz silver Koala coins.

The Koala series started in 2007; some of the earlier coins are a bit expensive but very collectable and well accepted worldwide.

The Series 2 Lunar coins started with the 2008 Lunar Mouse.

And...as the guys say...if you are collecting buy the coin you like. :)

    Cheers

    H

    PS:

If you are speculating...keep your eyes open for a cheap 1oz silver 2008 Kookaburra coin. :)

Beter still...if you can find a 2008 Kookaburra design dated 2009 (They came from the 20th Kookaburra coin set released by Perth) they are a sleeper coin that has a low mintage of just 8,598 coins. The 2008 Kookaburra design is recognised as one of the best designed Kookaburra coins.

Note, I own all of the coins above so Do Your Own Due Dilligence (DYODD)

The thing about collecting is that it doesn't matter where you start, you always ended up chasing after all sort.. It's addictive :p

1oz PM lunars IF they cost = or < as current year 1oz koalas, 1oz kookaburras IF they cost = or < as current year 1oz koalas... 1oz koalas IF they cost = or < ASEs

2oz and 5oz lunars are also a personal fav... 1/2 not much so

I am with Lunar Owl on this one - doesn't matter where you start - you will probably end up somewhere else ;)

Just try to finish what you start e.g. if going for kooks - get them all before moving on to lunars etc.

But judging by your user name and post in this section of SS - maybe you want to try something more obscure? See, I don't personally consider kooks or lunars as numi's and I was never a big fan of modern numis e.g. superman coins, dr who coins, shark coin etc. No offence to those who love them - just not my bag.

The most happiness I have gotten so far was from my "world silver currency" collection e.g. silver coins used as currency at some stage. Big list of coins to start hunting is here - http://currencydebasement.com/high-silver

    Have fun ;)
