I've noticed a lot of the smaller alts have been spiking in the past few days.
    Any over-arching cause for this?

And then comes the crash - up to 0.009 around midday, down to 0.002's on buy side right now - predictable really - but I did get 16000 free SXC out of the exercise, whatever happens with it.

I think that concludes my little experiment ;)

 I sank 10 LTC into Sexcoin as it dipped to 0.005 today. (see my prior post)

It truly is a long term punt (for Sexycoin time fun). This coin will rise again.

If it crashes to close to zero I might buy some more?. Naaaaa

Here is a place to spend them: http://www.cryptosextoys.com

I love my lollies you see.

The main reason why SXC will fail:

    Porn is free.

    I'm taking a punt on MemoryCoin 2.0

    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=370806.0

    http://www.memorycoin.info/

Low rewards at the moment for the first 48 hours, to allow people to test and get a look in.

CPU-only mining that uses up 1GB RAM

Only 10 million coins in first two years with 2% inflation thereafter

7.32% pre-mined (6.2% going to those who mined the first version of MemoryCoin back in August, and 1.12% to Protoshares holders at a rate of 10PTS to 1 MemoryCoin (MMC)

280MMC per block initially, 5% reduction every 1680 blocks

So far you have to be very lucky to win a block without a mining pool (currently there's none available), and that's not likely to change in ~25 hours when full block rewards come into effect

Your CPU must support AES-NI instructions, so most older CPUs will not be able to mine.

I'd like to get into CPU mining a bit but haven't really had the time to look for a proper guide as to how to setup a rig for mining. Has anyone got some good resources handy?

    Cheers

If you have a modern quad-core or greater CPU, then to mine MemoryCoin it's as simple as downloading the client program and clicking 'settings' > 'Mine x processes'

Which would be my best bet at the moment - BTer or Cryptsy?
