Just looked on Aurinum's site to see what the damage would be after the VAT rise and was surprised to see items like Eagles, Maple Leaf's are currently being sold at 0% VAT.
Yeah, I saw the same on other sites, but I can't tell whether that's just them not updating their website yet. Have you completed a transaction? Wouldn't surprise me if it's added before they process it. But, maybe not!
Oooh. And it's a cheaper site than the one I've been using for my European silver... Goody! Edit: Interestingly, they charge shipping by the value of the purchase rather than the weight... So for a job lot of silver coins it'll be cheaper, but for a handful of small gold coins it might not be.
All silber corners silver numi products are now showing 19% VAT charge, bullion silver is not showing at all.
Several German dealers are implementing margin taxation on silver coins sourced outside the EU, so the 0% VAT on some coins vs. 19% on other (old stock, bars etc) is as expected. However, one dealer quoted price increases of 1-2% with margin taxations, and at a Quick glance Auriniums 0% VAT prices are very close to other dealers 19% VAT price. So I wouldn't order anything yet, most dealers open up around Jan 7-10 and then we'll hopefully have a better idea of pricing.
Interestingly, after I bought a clutch of Andorran Eagles for 14 euros each, the prices have all shot up (mind, a load of coins are no longer available either) and nothing's labelled '0% VAT'. It all has either a margin VAT or 19%. Maybe I got in before it was changed? We'll see. Edit: The same Andorran Eagles are now over 21 euros each.... ASEs are too! Maybe the days of affordable delivered physical silver in Europe are gone.
All german dealers are updating with new vat and the prices are not yet accurate youre andora eagle for 14 euro no way forget about that
Well, I've got the receipt so, unless they rescind the contract - and the T&Cs say that isn't allowed for either side - I think I just managed to sneak that small purchase through. Shame, if I'd known, I'd have bought more but it looks like the dealers are actioning the change in tax from the 2nd of January, not the 1st... [Edit: just checked the receipt. The 14 euros was the 'from' price for large orders. I apologise - didn't mean to mislead (although they may have!) - I paid 15.96 euros each. Still a lot cheaper than today, with the 19% tax added!]
I always check prices on CoinInvestDirect website as it offers live prices in different currencies and different countries. The Austrian Philharmonica is traditionally one of the cheaper silver coins and I use this as a benchmark comparing other dealer prices. At the time of posting the price of the Phil to the UK was Euro 20.52 and in Germany Euro 20.35 The net price of Euro 17.10 confirms the 20% UK VAT rate and the new 19% German VAT rate. Now the Germans seeing VAT rise from 7% to 19% will feel robbed by the state. Us Brits are used to being raped by the state - join the club !!
