hi I have picked up a couple of these already at <spot+5%. nice coins. happy to hold onto them simply because I like them, however they seem to trade for around bullion value only. Do they (or will they ever) have any numi value? mintage is only 1,500. Are they sleepers? or simply worth the 7.8g Au and 13g Ag? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2002-50-...913842?pt=AU_Bullion&hash=item45fa780832#shId
It has a very low mintage of 1500 coins so it should trade at SPOT + 10% at least imo. Not sure why it seems not to be.
Just remember low mintages do not always = High prices, there needs to be a demand and then you get the pricing. If you got them close to bullion I would be very happy with that. Considering the issue price was $435 I think that tells you how much Numis value there is ?
It is a pretty coin really and considering the amount of work it would take to make it plus it is proof it seems awesome that you are picking them up so cheap. I reckon these sort of things go in cycles. One day it might come back into fashion and you'll be able to get spot + premium.
Of course not always, but in at least 90% of cases. Demand for low mintage coins should/would be relatively low as most people arent aware of it. Getting a coin at close to bullion is great - irrespective of what the mintages are on that coin. That coin IS A SLEEPER !!! It can ONLY go UP in premium.
The coin is on sale at S/S now for less than spot. http://forums.silverstackers.com/to...-goldsilvercopper-at-less-than-spothurry.html
