I've had this medallion for some time, but I want to verify that it is 999 silver. Anyone here have any ideas? One side has an image of the Hindu Goddess Durga riding on the back of a tiger: The reverse has on Om symbol and has 999 stamped on it: It measures 3.2 cm's across Thanks
If you've got access to a below balance weighing scale... or a friendly laboratory that can weigh your coin above and below water.... that will give you a specific gravity reading. Short of that get it to a jeweler with an xrf machine http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-20610-best-scale-for-doing-specific-gravity.html
Try a neodymium magnet test, plenty of vids on youtube, this will find out if the coin has a high silver content. It works too as I now use this to test all the coins I purchase, I did post a written method on here somewhere but cannot find it.
