Might try repeating JulieW's experiment with my extended family on Chrissy day and give a prize of a 1 oz Kook to anyone who can guess the current value of a 50 cent silver round or a range of pre-decimals coins. Could be a good game to pass the time :)

The last 2 years I have bought my sister only PMs for presents, and she loves it. It's like a little pile of treasure. Just picked up a full sov for her Chrissy present.

Not really a christmas present, I gave my brothers new born son a 1/2kg lunar Tiger.

I am expecting to get one back in return when I have my children. damnit, the perth mint stop making 5oz, 10oz and 1/2kgs. I'd settle for 1kg though, its the same size twice the thickness lol.

My GF and I will just go halves in some silver as our present to each other.
My side of the family do Secret Santa with a wish list - i put silver on the top of the list for the both of us.

At a work xmas lunch we did Scret Santa also - i thought it was gonna be $15 dollar limit so i got a 1/2 oz koala.
Ended up being only $10 limit, and the name i pulled out of the hat wasn't worth the extra money and certainly would not have been interested. Toyed with the idea of giving a 1966 50, but again, he wasn't worth it. So i just bought him a CLiNT magazine. (capitalization is the same as on the cover)

Had a work Xmas lunch today.

    20 people.

    Had a 66 50cent to play with.

Only showed it to one guy who I thought might be tuned in.

He looked at it & held it.

Asked him what it might be worth.

    He said $20 -$30 (numis)

    Tuned him into 80% Silver.

He said " What money used to be made with"

    Then he had to go.

This is from a guy who know that banks are evil.

Hmm, I think there's still a few more sleeps to go before you can unwrap those...

I bought a 1972 miss america round for my sister. She'll appreciate it as much as the bacon themed wallet last time (she's a vegetarian).

That's a problem because it is silver. And the loss of a silver piece is not easily countenanced.

My older children, bil, sil and my parents and 2 nephews are all getting a 1oz kook. sad to see silver walk back out the door, but I still feel better than spending the equivalent on trash or vouchers to by trash etc.
I'm hoping their interest will be piqued and they will want to continue themselves. Better if those around me are clued and stacking too.

My nephew and niece will get 1oz Pandas this year. The cutest bullion coins ever imo. They're bloody addictive.

Well then that qualifies you for a Xmas present - pre- presents, test presents dont count I would propose, so you will just have to put on puppy dog eyes and tremble the bottom lip and mention how sad you will be feeling on xmas day when all of us are getting their pms, could she please, please pretty please give you one or maybe two little itty bitty pieces just so you feel like you got a present on the THE DAY. Tell her you understand her excitement but at heart you are a big kid that would like a leetle pm on THE DAY just for special.

I have kids mate, so I'm going to be happily busy with them for that event. My wife has bought me some other things as well, but since I was cleaning up some fractional silver that I'd just bought myself, she thought she'd kill two birds with one stone.

Needless to say though, I was very surprised (first time my wife has actually bought me silver!) and very, very happy :)

Yep, I've bought a couple of 1oz Coins for Kirs Krinkle and a 1oz PAMP for my Sister.

Going to love looking at their expressions. Know my Sister will join into Stacking Silver once I introduce her.

    Have a Merry Christmas Everyone.

LOL my BIL asked if his1oz K0ok was a medal something. When I told him what it was he was like "wow" and when I mentioned it's expected price rise, "he knew".
Overall I think they were a hit. nice and shiny in their little plastic cases.
Istuck them inside a card with:
"Inside every cloud is a silver lining" with "cloud" crossed out and "card" written in.
