Are there any with real time 'in stock' inventory?? I'm guessing its difficult to hold alot of stock and hedge against volatile prices rather than any technology issue??
I think KJC has some items in "real time". When i bought some bars i noticed that afternoon they had reduced the stock by the appropriate amount.
Goldstackers is in a way - when it says 'sold out' they don't have any. But some items can be ordered even if not actually in stock at that moment because they've got some on order or can order more At least I think that's how it works.
What I mean is actual physical inventory. BB allows you to order unlimited quantities in some items (eg. 10oz Scottsdale stacker). So that can't be what's in the storeroom. Guess for times like these, knowing what you can get now would be handy. But my assumption is everything's gone
Is Apmex system based on actual inventory? Eg. Order, pay and shipped. No back orders? GP, if you're listening, anything like this possible on Goldstackers? I work in the CBD and would love to see what's avail online, walk-in and walk-out.
Guess that's one reason why they haven't, but in their line of business, they would have adequate security and procedures
The Gold Stackers website inventory currently reflects uncommitted "on hand" inventory - as in physically on hand, or in readily-accessible vaulted storage.
The website will take backorders - so check when an item is added to the cart to see if it says it will be backordered. At current inventory lead times we wouldn't be in business long selling only what had arrived in-store from our suppliers.
Yeah, saying in writing an item is "in stock" is problematic, especially when we also do over-the-counter sales from a different system that needs to be synced several times a day with online inventory management. So everything can be ordered, but if we explicitly know something is out of stock, it's flagged in the shopping cart. It is not a rock-solid guarantee that it is in stock though - someone buys the last PAMP 50g gold bar over the counter while you're ordering one online, and the website won't know about the in-store sale for an hour or so.
My first ever purchase was from Gold Stackers for a 1kg PM Silver bar well before the price drop, I had a call two weeks after the purchase telling me that the item just came into stock and would be shipped the next day So I'm not confident that it will be physically in stock unless GP has changed the way they do business?
Yes it's a recent change. Lead times from suppliers were getting too long - previously stock already on order from suppliers was not flagged as backordered. The website for example won't tell you right now we've got thousands of 1oz Kooks on order that will probably arrive in a week.
