I've been collecting the Indian Silver Rupees. Lovely coins. Just trying to fill in the last few gaps. Other than the 1939 Silver Rupee I'm missing the 1897, 1881 and 1874 coins. Other than Ebay anybody know any good places to pick them up?

Boston, the Indian market is vastly overpriced. The Colonial Coins (and only the Colonial coins) are given as tokens at weddings and go for a massive premium. The guys that sell in India also seem to be either Imbuing copious amounts of mind altering substances or picking a long distance phone number at random when writing the price down. They also don't seem to have got the hang of the Interweb so there's no Indian version of something like Weighton Coin Wonders in the Uk or Littleton Coin Company in the US. Pakistan is a good source as it used to be part of Br India pre partition and they seem more realistic on pricing. But the dealers have a habit of cleaning up the coins rather harshly. They were also used in what is now Banglanesh and Burma the latter being where I source most of them from.

Obviously a lot of them ended up in the sock draws of British Troops/administrators who served out there so the Uk is good for buying too.

Silver Frost. I still haven't got the hang of the Dots on them. When I have the time I'll publish a picture of the set.

Hey nice i have kings no queens. Travelgall if you look at the floral design at 6oclock on reverse in the lower 1/3 youll see a very fine but perfect dot which is the Bombay mint mark.

Lovely, my only Pig Rupee has a mark on the face. It's one of my lowest quality coins. It could be wear and tear or some Irate individual who deliberately defaced His Majesty a bit. Great to see that others collect. I promise to take some pictures when I haven't got a 11 day old who needs changing constantly.
