Does it matter when investing in unalocated gold which vault it is? Amsrtrerdam, Zurich, Frankfurt? Which one to choose? All of them are the same storage fee.

Try Sydney or Melbourne, we are not in Europe, otherwise maybe Hong Kong or Singapore. Choose somewhere that may be a "flight to safety" location.

How about the Fed's vault? Then check later whether they still have your gold.

You'd better hide it somewhere than trust 'someone' at the other side of Earth to 'guard' your valuables.

Personally I can't bring myself to trust (almost) any institution with custody of physical metal I own.

    In the last 100 years,
Amsterdam has been occupied by foreign troops,
Frankfurt has been subjected to sustained aerial bombardment,
Zurich has been subject to neither.

Switzerland also has the advantage of being the one outside of the all-consuming European Monetary Union.
