i have never traded gold for silver before and i hate the premiums people put on the types of coins im after so i dont know what is fair in the outside world but to me since i would be trading 99.99% gold i would want $for$ for the equilivant purity +- a bit? Still not sure but thats what these meetings are good for :) education. My gold bars are all PAMP stamped (5g's and 1oz size)

If you use the calculator at the top of the fourm you will be able to work out the actual silver content of the coins you have.
Then just work out how how many of each make an oz of silver and hey presto you've got a great referance point to start trading from ie, 6 pre 46 florins = 2.02 actual silver weight (or ASW).
Hope this helps a little, once you have the ASW you then need to work out the gold to silver ration, are you trading sopt for spot or will there be a primium on your gold. ie,
    5g gold @$58 per gram =$290
Silver at $34 per oz means you'll need to trade 26 post 46 florins to get an ASW of 8.75oz.
So 8.75 x $33 = $289 so you've got a figure you can then use to trade the 5g of gold.
Therefor trade 26 post 46 Florins for 5g gold.

(This advice is given as an example only and does not constiture actual investment advice. :p and yeah i know my spot prices are not accurate just trying to provide an example.)

Hope this makes sence and if I've got any of the math backward then please someone correct me.

See you at the next meet.

Wouldn't you say if swaping gold to silver by spot...silver will lose a fair bit of the premium because of the ratio (unless the silver is in kg bar or bigger)? I swap once with a fellow member at the Melbourne Meet, and we just use one of the dealer selling price and +/- with $$$.

So Cinder...what ratio are you going to be using? Or maybe what exactly you after?

Numbers are looking promising for our last meet, with 12 confirmations already received (includes a couple of interstaters).

We still have a couple of weeks , before having to advise the hotel of our final numbers.

Keep spreading the word - have booked for 25
