I stumbled upon this looking for something else. I wonder if it would/could be enforced again at some point with amendments http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/ba195972/s42.html
hmmm, nowhere does it say that the rba will pay me anything upon delivery of my gold to them. Lucky i don't have any then. Pheww!
So if a gang of armed thugs turned up at your door demanding you hand over your gold "or else" that would be immoral (theft). Just because a gang of thugs calling themselves 'government' does the same thing does not make it any less immoral or any more right simply because they wrote some stuff on a bit of paper giving themselves the 'right' to steal your property. Much better to keep your head down and your mouth shut until it blows over. If it even eventuates. (Not that I have any gold for them to steal, but it's the principle...)
Section IV of the Banking Act? I've been bangin' on this drum to anyone who'd listen for the last five gorram cycles. "Hide yo' gold, hide yo' silver Hide yo' gold, hide yo' silver cuz they be confiscating all da metal out there. Dey won't don't have to come and confess, Dey gunna after ya So run and tell that, homestacker So run and tell that, homestacker"
