1893 sovereign with an unknown story. I bought this as is, a photo, a sovereign & a coin wallet. The sovereign holds it's own intrinsic value of course, but what of the man? Did his dear mother press it into her sons hand as he headed off to the Great War? Did he hold it for dear life during the Great Depression? Was this the first sovereign earned by a wealthy industrialist? What are those accoutrements? We often see these wonderful historic pieces without any provenance.
