Plus the Guilded are Proof quality, the bullion is BU EDIT: The gilded are listed as Proof-like quality - whatever that means!? - in other words, not Proof
I know what unlimited means, there's no way there are less than 5000 takus out there. Every dealer is selling them dirt cheap, and people love the design. Ontop of that last year woke up allot of people, we probably have more stackers than ever before. Also, the design of the taku does not change so even if it did have a small mintage it really doesn't mean much.
A smart man. I'm holding some cash for those sizes in Dragons also. (if they ever actually mint some more)
The thing I have been wondering, why does NZ mint produce coins with 'FIJI' on it. Why not like Australia write New Zealand. Could someone let me in on that bit of history. That has been one of the biggest hindrances to me wanting to invest in these.
Think of a Mint as a business, they sell their services around the world to manufacture coins for anyone, not just their own back yard. Perth Mint makes coins for Tuvalu and others. NZ Mint makes for many different Pacific Island nations as well as NZ (just found out the latest NZ Proof coins are actually made in Germany). It's a global market - I am sure if you had enough $ then any Mint would make coins for you to
Thank you AndyRoo68, so what I am hearing is that the FIJI ones are actually legal tender in FIJI then and not New Zealand. That clears things up a lot.
I just saw the swordfish version they did and now i really want one of them but im not paying 65 plus delivery and premiums
http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/pro...er-coin-produced-by-the-new-zealand-mint.aspx though if you were going to buy one you're probably better off getting a guilded taku at that price...
Yeah that's right, that's why I don't think it has any hope of appreciating in value. The guilded taku on the otherhand has a mintage of only 5000 but it has a bullion version with an unlimited mintage. These things are going to have crazy premiums in the future I think, especially if Silver takes off and they mint even more bullion takus.
hehe yeah, don't get me wrong, they are a beautiful coin. The New Zealand mint produce some of the best coins in my opinion, certainly on par with the Perth Mint these days. Strong case to argue that in terms of presentation and price they are unrivalled.
T The Gilded Swordfish also has a mintage of 5000. Agree that the bullion Taku is a beautiful coin and is probably undervalued, has a lot more appeal than just a bullion coin and the premium on them is still very low - cant lose either way.
