    I would want to break the koala out of that ugly slab and put it back in its box the way it was intended. Ugly slab in my opinion. :(

    Anyone else notice the possible misleading statement above (not from rbaggio but from the advertiser)...
    it's the same as me saying I have every one available (4) out of the 4 that I got....i suppose it depends on how you look at it..
    thoughts?

    on another thread received from PM
    "The Perth Mint's 5 ounce Koala proof coin does have a mintage of 5,000. A US company has the exclusive rights for sale of that coin in the US only as they purchased a large part of the mintage. However they did not buy the complete mintage and the coin will be for sale on our web site in early June.
    Note: Our policy with Australian coins is that some coins must be sold in Australia, it is very unlikely that anyone would have the entire mintage of a coin."

    I wonder if the note above will apply to the Dragons that will be released later this year??

    A little misleading, but I can see what they mean. They bought all available 4700 coins.

    Update: These coins in the USA come with: slabbed coin, COA and velvet pouch.
    Confirmed on another forum with someone who has one.

    ... and I got my coin today in the mail. Very nice and shiney. :D

    Personally i think these coins are over valued for it's mintage and size. I'd rather hunt for deals on 5 oz Pandas.

    Indeed. The sellers feedback although numerous is a little confusing, especially the positive even thought commet states stopped sale.

    Caveat Emptor.

    Wow, there's none on eBay Australia at all at the moment. The only one I could find on eBay USA in original packaging sold for $550 USD.

    I've got the option of a second one at issue price, holding off for now. I think these are *too* rare, and there's no hyper around them.

    Here's my 2 cents to add to the story from the US.

    After reading about the 5oz Proof Koalas in June I went to the Perth Mint site where these were being offered for about $460 US. I picked up 2 and because of the price they qualified for free international shipping. No complaints. They came in the case and box with COAs 4841 and 4853. So apparently the US distributors picked up 4700(?) but the remaining 300 were offered to more than just Australia.

    Beautiful coins! Wish I'd picked up a couple more.

    USA = 4700 coins
    Aus = 300 coins

    Very nice coin and definately scarce in Australia as we got all the goodies with the coin.

    You ordered these from the Perth mint and they shipped them to you in the US ???? I tried to order this and they cancelled my order saying a company (which I would never deal with again they are a real rip off) USGOVMINT (has nothing to do with the real US mint) has all the right to them in the us and under a strict agreement they could not ship them to the US . Thay also did this with the same company with the 2010 high relief kangaroos, and most recently with the kilo color proof dragon although I dont know if it is the same company but it might be. If they really sold to you in the USA that really p**sses my off , I am already pretty upset with the perth mint for this kind of thing. The company I mentioned USGOVMINT just sends them to be slabbed and graded and then sells them at a ridicules price , look at the NGC population of the 2010 silver high releif kangaroo...

    The 2012 Koala will be issued soon.
    Does anybody know something about the mintage
    and if they will sell most of them to the States again?
