Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism[1][2] characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy[3] which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.

    Some confuse facism with communism.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism

Communism (from Latin communis, "common, universal")[1][2] is a philosophical, social, political, economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of a communist society, namely a socioeconomic order structured upon the ideas of common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money[3][4] and the state.[5][6]

    Classic Wikipedia.

They are both horribly oppressive, but note the somewhat sunnier description of Communism without the "characterized by" reference.

Be careful what you choose as your source of truth....

How am I trying to make trump the hero? You’re a Boffin if you support either side. I never said I support either side at all, because I don’t. You’re the one defending!
The fact that you wrote that and immediately followed me shows your intent is to just troll me from now on.

    Nice work.
Both fascism and communism have the above characteristics.
Name me one socialist who wasn't also a fascist as per the above definition.
Also don't forget that fascism almost won a World War while communism starved 120+ million Russians, Chinese, Cambodians and Cubans and led to the complete economic destruction of this countries in the 20th century :D;)

But who on this forum has a preference to either one of them?

The EU is clearly communist, but some argue that fascism is in reality a left-wing creature.

National-socialism (or nazism) is generally confused with fascism (I also think that there's little difference in practice, but theory may show otherwise).

National-socialism is the Hitlerian extreme criminal nationalism, while fascism somewhat derived from Mussolini's rather leftish ideology.

Regardless, they all have 2 things in common: brutal intolerance towards "health normality" + violent rule

The EU is cultivating a form of extreme left-wing mentality (like a second wave of communism), which is a peculiar fusion with wild extreme liberalism. This is a form of leftism, which promotes hate against healthy normality (traditional values, family) and is about to turn on the violent rule.

The EU is still in the beginning phase. But the "romantic phase" of the "European dream" is over. Next step: totalitarian rule from Brussels (destroying the independence of member states).

Socialism and liberalism have a "human face", but they degenerate into fascism. Antifa is an "inverse fascism", but is essentially a form of fascism.

Socialism, communism, anarchism, fascism, nazism, liberalism... now corporatism and environmentalism. The latter two might not seem ideologies, but they are!
They're all connect to one another and have overlaps. And, at some point they all have a strong fascistic feel.

Regardless: they all have 2 things in common - intolerance and violence.

And interesting book is "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg:
"Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning is a book by Jonah Goldberg, in which Goldberg argues that fascist movements were and are left-wing. Published in January 2008, it reached #1 on the New York Times Best Seller list of hardcover non-fiction in its seventh week on the list."

I thought we would have had a fully functioning European Army by now. Not too long now given the current economic state we’re in.

Yes. Essentially they're both abusive extreme collectivist ideologies.

And sadly, they make great allies. I can't count the times when the far left made deals with the far right to get into power (or to maintain power).

The differences are enormous between European countries. And sadly, in Europe pretty much everyone hates everyone. Well, almost...

And everyone feels the need to be as independent and as distant as possible from the others. It's a typical European thing.

Thus, if there are 3 Europeans in a room, there are 15 different opinions :D

"Fascism" has become a pejorative term, an insult even. It's like the word "idiot", which some dumb people use to devalue and discredit others.

Yet: there is real fascism/racism/xenophobia as well. And it's worrying that nowadays many people are whitewashing fascism by claiming it's merely a "label", a "false accusation".

Fascism is like murder. Some people are murderers. Others just bring fake accusations of "murder". Thew two are different things. It's not one or the other, but both exist in parallel: the real problem and the false accusations as well. It's all up to moral judgement.

Yep.... like I said, the potential for fascism rather than communism/socialism. Perhaps more accurately, on offer perhaps is a form of corporate fascism with global reach. :( And it's the right (conservatives) that concerns me more than the left at the moment. Extremists on both sides who are able to monopolise control (power) are equally a worry though.

I see fascism on the rise in many corners of the world. As for communism's "absence of social classes, money". Does it even exist in this world? It's clear that communism no longer exists in the 21st century.

No comments on Europe with respect to ideology as I'm don't know much about Europe, but it looks like anarchy to me.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchy

Anarchy is the state of a society being freely constituted without authorities or a governing body. It may also refer to a society or group of people that totally rejects a set hierarchy.[1]
Corporate fascism could be one form of fascism but they appear to be in decline and are being replaced by "national fascism".

A year ago, I know the world is going to get into trouble because of extremists. Extremism is very dangerous and people don't realise it until now, and hopefully, it is still not too late.

How is the price of diamonds right now?

Did it soar just like gold? I'd like to know if there is an online resource to check this.

    Shock, but no surprise:

"Italy may issue additional debt targeting domestic retail investors to boost liquidity during the coronavirus emergency regardless of the outcome of talks at the European level, the economy minister said on Thursday.

In an interview with financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore, Roberto Gualtieri also said that 400 billion euros ($434.56 billion) in new guarantees for bank loans that were announced on Monday would all be issued this year.

He added that Rome could consider a temporary, direct intervention to protect companies particularly exposed to market turbulence, as had already been announced for loss-making airline Alitalia, which will again be put under state control after 11 years of difficult private management."

They're putting the pedal to debt and are asking for the population's money. People will pay for the debt with their hard-earned money and the government will give them "worthless titles".

The title of the Reuters article reflects the truth in short:
Italy may sell more debt to domestic retail investors: paper

We're finished - the Dollar is going gown: Fed announces bailout!

    Powell on the US economy:

    Zerohedge:
Fed Unveils New Bailout Program, Will Provide Up To $2.3 Trillion In Loans To "Support Economy"

"... the Federal Reserve announced its latest series of sweeping, unprecedented action to backstop the credit pillars supporting the entire economy and provide as much as $2.3 trillion in additional loans during the coronavirus pandemic, including starting programs to aid small and mid-sized businesses as well as state and local governments: "The funding will assist households and employers of all sizes and bolster the ability of state and local governments to deliver critical services during the coronavirus pandemic."

    SOURCE: https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/fed-unveils-new-bailout-program-will-inject-23-trillion-loans

This part doesn't sound that bad, but I'd like to more exactly what it does/how it works: "...funding will assist households and employers of all sizes..."

Gold is at 1,675 $ and I just caught the end of the (above shared) Powell interview - it was in fact LIVE on YouTube.

    Yet another phenomenon worth analyzing.

The Fed has come up with so many measures in recent months that it's getting more complicated to understand what the heck they're doing.

    EuroNews:
IMF: coronavirus pandemic will cause worst economic slump since Great Depression

"The coronavirus pandemic will trigger the worst economic fallout since the Great Depression of the 1930s, the International Monetary Fund has warned.

"The bleak outlook applies to advanced and developing economies alike. This crisis knows no boundaries. Everybody hurts," IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said on Thursday, warning that 2020 will be "exceptionally difficult".

Georgieva stated that the IMF estimates a partial recovery of the economy in 2021, should the pandemic fade in the latter part of the year allowing for restrictions to gradually lift with a reopening of the economy.

However, she said that there is "tremendous uncertainty around the outlook," adding that it "could get worse depending on many variable factors, including the duration of the pandemic"."

    SOURCE: https://www.euronews.com/2020/04/09...e-worst-economic-slump-since-great-depression

Now the mainstream is waving the coming crisis, which I think will be far worse than they're predicting. I expect at least 5 years of crisis. Some countries may survive better.

2021 will be worse than 2020, don't expect "partial recovery", in fact next year will bring the deepening of the crisis.

GOLD IS GOOD, we're just like in pre-2008, so don't fear when investing/saving in gold.
This is exactly the buildup to a scenario when gold is the best safe haven asset you can have.

Recession is coming: Gold prices to hit new record highs - Jim Rickards

Ice9 is coming. The financial ice age is coming.

Jim Rickards believes a cascading shut-down is going to cause financial panic. We're not yet there, according to him.
When we'll be there, everyone will "want their money back".
