There have been many attempts to fabricate and spread lies about cotton or so-called "forced labor" in #Xinjiang. This timeline, which starts from the public fury surrounding a statement by fashion retailer H&M, positions these fantasies with facts

so that is how it happened,
pay some one to make up a fantasy , so that two bills get pass the US congress
just like weapons of mass destruction, so that US can invade Iraq
    same old same old

Believing that a country is somehow the center of the world, even in the 21st century and not distinguishing between nations, countries, but merely treating them as "all the same" based on race reflects a lot of self-centeredness.

Similar things can be said about the US.

I the rule based maker, international rule base, but not other people
    its ARROGANT, not self centred
hence the hated UN, their creation, 1 man 1 vote, nations have equal footing as member
    uncommon rule system

China is middle kingdom, the one that has left neighbour and right neibour

Today it's the US-EU-UK that rules the world. It's still the same colonial powers.

The Chinese believe that the colonial powers have "humiliated China". But I believe China wasn't the only humiliated country.

Regardless, the multipolar world is emerging no only because the west is losing their power, not only because of their inner turmoil, but also because the rest of the world has lost their trust in them and, the rest of the world is developing at an increasing rate.

The US-EU-UK is losing ground against regional powers, such as Turkey, China (yes, China is a regional power mainly due to partial political isolation and due to geographic constraints, but certainly a superpower in the making).

If the trend continues, I expect the west to lose ground even in areas like the Red Sea (more Chinese, Indian, regional Arab and Turkish presence), the Falklands, influence in the Caribbean (should China or Russia set foot economically/politically in Cuba or Mexico), Brazil (thus, the southern Atlantic), while Japan is emerging militarily (no, I don't think they will repeat Pearl Harbor, but some of them want to kick out US military bases), the Eastern Mediterranean (already Turkey-Greece-Israel-France are fighting over it). The US is very weak.

I guess we can count that as first in the world, at least in the 21st century world when a "government" authority openly threatens murder via national TV?

This is like a childish online game. People have gone mad. Everyone should have learned from the Cold War. But now they're at it again.

I hope things settle down peacefully.

It's all propaganda. The colonial powers are in collapse for the second time. Previously they lost their colonies, now they are going to lose their markets and themselves (social-economic collapse).

The Soviet Union has collapsed a long time ago. Russia didn't want to recognize this either that they are not synonymous with the Soviet Union.

The US and the EU aren't synonymous with "the world", but they act like they are the world.

The EU is a funny case - if you are aware of the political disputes within the EU, it's a similar pattern: the western colonial powers (including Germany, but France, Belgium, the Netherlands...) act like they are the EU and will never recognize the later-joined states as "equal". They are merely vassals, despite the "egalitarian" rules of the EU's institutions. Countries like Greece, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania will never be equal to Belgium or France.

It seems like it's traditional to project power below and subjugate others. First they subjugated Africa etc., now they're subjugating Central and Eastern Europe.

The EU isn't working either. They hate each other. The colonialists act like they should lead the "hoards" of disrespected new nations, whose voting rights are merely symbolic.
The EU is not it's member states. It's another form of colonialism...

Oddly, some EU states have developed better relations with the US, Turkey, China, rather than with the western EU "colonialists" (France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, but even Sweden is acting like a "global power").
It's hilarious, the EU is "the Tower of Babel" :D

Sweden has soft power because of Ikea. Practically everyone has some Ikea furniture or stuff at home. Military wise, they are good at submarines which are very popular.

I like to watch Viking documentaries as I find it fascinating that one of the most backward region in the world in antiquity (outside of North America) is now one of the most advanced today. The Viking period coincided with the Chinese Tang and Song period when China was the top civilisation at that time. Sweden proves that population size isn't an advantage as it was in the past.

While West Europe is old, China is just as old. There are hundreds of emperors since the first emperor that was supposed to have unified China about 2200 years ago. If you look at the current situation, there is practically no change in the system from 500 years ago.

The Nordic countries, are very young in comparison, only hundreds of years of advanced civilisation. The USA is even younger. It's easy for younger civilisations to change their society, economic and political system and adapt to new challenges than for older ones. Older civilisations are always scared of new ideas, and want to continue outdated and even feudal system.

Older civilizations has lots of reserves from multiple points of view. They also have tremendous historical experience and anthropological advantage.

The US has grown to become a a superpower due to multiple factors, but I would only name a few, which many people don't see/know:
    - they intervened in WW I, which propelled them to become a "real great power", otherwise they had little to do in Europe (perhaps they had no real reason to intervene)
    - they grew on behalf of the contraction of the Spanish colonial empire (as the Spaniards lost influence, momentum and their colonies atomized by fighting each other and within themselves): the Spanish colonial influence used to stretch all the way north to Alaska and most of today's USA was part of it (just a map: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SpanishEmpire1790.svg)
    - North America has access to the world's 2 biggest oceans on both sides: they can stick their sticks between Europe's or Asia's wheel spokes (they can sabotage either continents) or, they can simply trade with both
    - the US is the most "protected", hard to access great power: they are like the wolf in the middle of an empty field (without any natural enemy) with a bunch of rabbits running around the field (Canada, Cuba, Mexico are their greatest "enemies", so whoever believes that Iran, North Korea, Russia "pose a threat" is very naive (these are at most regional "threats" to the geopolitical interests of the US or, to their allies)
    - other great powers have the "vital space" complex: they tend to "cannibalize each other" (drag each other down like a bunch of drunks in a bar fight, while the US is watching from the street - like the lonely wolf in the middle of the field, with no natural enemy) - see the regional rivalries (countless examples in the Middle East, Europe, Asia: they are all at each other's throat, while the US sits back and watches)

Obviously, nowadays it's the petrodollar system, the ideological influence and the "military-industrial complex" that keeps them in power.

No major power could have ever dethroned the US. It will be the multipolar world that will.

So far the US has used "democracy", correctness and fairness as rules for policing the world and teaching everyone to be "good". But as they've compromised themselves during the last 20 years of foreign policy, the US has lost more credibility than ever AND has made more enemies than ever. AND: this again empowers the formation of the multipolar world.

I'm afraid to imagine what regional power balance will appear in the new multipolar world. There will be a lot of friction between the new "wannabe regional powers" ("if you wannabe my lover, you have got to give, taking is to easy, but that's the way it iiiiis..."... if you know the cheesy song :D:D:D:D:D:D:D)

Ethnonationalism is never a good thing in the long run. Nazi Aryan master race nationalism led to disaster.

To avoid disaster, the only solution is isolation. Unfortunately, this is the best outcome. They wrote a lot about Ming global influence and trade, and made many shows on it, but do you know, in the end, the Ming shut the doors to foreign trade and went into isolation? They didn't write about the ending.

    History repeating itself? o_O

It's strange that the country hasn't changed much from 600 years ago.

Only 5% chance of this happening, 95% is towards isolation. Enlightenment means giving up absolute power, no way the emperors will do that. So isolation is the best outcome to me. If you can't integrate with the world, don't.
