I hope you were one of them because you rarely ever see such low priced ASE's. Not that I'm saying that ASE's should be priced higher than that since they are merely a bullion round with a fiat $ denominated value stamped onto it...woop-dee-do...1$ fiat currency! Still, a bargain (very low premium) on ASE's is a bargain on silver). Typically, the only bullion ASE's I ever buy are old ASE's...1986 - 89 but the premiums are getting high on those. .
Keep checking back on that listing. They put a couple hundred more up a few hours ago and I was able to get one. Maybe they'll do it again?
Looks like they're loss leading to get PowerSeller status - basically doing a stock dump to get the boost on eBay. Not a silly idea.
I haven't purchased ASE's in a while and when I do buy 80's ASE's, I check different sources (my lcs and eBay and big dealers). Also, when I mentioned the premiums are going up, I meant on truly BU (brilliant uncirculated) mint fresh (blast white) specimens. I'm sure you can find 1980's ASE's that have surface corrosion ("toning") and minor wear and other minor defects for about $23 these days, but that's actually not what I meant in terms of premiums going up. I prefer these earlier years because when the current series design comes to an end (which there has been talk about by the CCAC) then the earliest years will become key issues for collectors and in particular collectors who want a full set of bu ASE's. That's what I think. .
I bought a couple, I'm not a fan of koalas but they are priced at generic pricing and $30 less than anywhere else. Good deal I think. This seller has had many good deals lately, has to be taking losses to build a good customer base and high ratings!
There was a design change already in 2008 so you should class 1986 to 2007 as early ase,s because they were all original design! 2008 to present is the new design until the next change
If that's true, then I learned something new about the ASE's today. I will have to now learn what was changed in the design. .
This may interest ase buyers and sellers with much knowledge of ase,s, especially noting how it is portrayed as such that all non slabbed non proof and other than 1996 and 1986 bullion are just spot plus very small premium, take note of just how fast they sold http://forums.silverstackers.com/forum-33-australia-new-zealand-public.html
Here you go http://silvereagleguide.com/2008-w-silver-eagle-reverse-of-2007/ As an explanation to the change in the "U' the upper-case U was basically introduced by Abe Lincoln in USA but originally it was a combination of 13 states according to the original Declaration Of Independence, in that original deceleration it was written as the thirteen "united States of America"and that is the official way it is meant to be written with a lower case u not upper case U geez I need to drink less beer lol
True. Probably lost over 2k. But they just chalk it up as a advertising expense I assume. Many now have them on their radar who never heard of them before. I know I look at their new items waiting for a steal and have been tempted at a few deals they have ran.
This sellers prices are amazing. Just bought a 1/10th platinum eagle for 138. $20 less than any other dealer with the convience of buying on ebay. My 2 10oz Koalas arrived yesterday. The shipping was VERY good. They used a very large box for the order, a tight wrapped bubble mailer wrapped in large bubble wrapped, taped and place in a large box. They could have used a flatrate box and saved some cash. I'm keeping an eye on this seller
