Hi All, Hope everyone is well and happily collecting numismatic items. I haven't been posting much these few months because i have been busy with a new edition to my family, being a new dad for the first time can be very challenging. As i have just put the new bubs to sleep i thought i would touch on this new 2014 AIATSIS 50c none coloured Circulation Coin. Thou this coin was announced for release a few months ago it has not hit the market until very recently. So whats good about this Circulation coin. - only 2 million coins will be produced - The most collected modern coin in Australia is the 50c pieces - Nice design but the most important aspect of this coin is the 2 million mintage and the challenge of the hunt. I have notice most of the AIATSIS 50c pieces are coming from QLD state, so if you are in QLD look out for them its well worth the hunt. With all Numismatic coins condition is vital to retain a price higher than the face value, so looking for them when they are still uncirculated may return you a decent profit in the future or near future. I believe collecting should be fun and enjoyable, if by chance you can make a $ out of what you collect its a added bonus. happy hunting P.S before you ask, all 2 million coins are going into circulation you will need to hunt for these as dealers cannot buy them from the mint [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/3326_2014_50c_circ_aiatsis_rev.jpg][/imgz] James
yeah used to have a nice girl in the bank on the sunny coast keep me the shinnys as we called them she would save the bags for me and I would give her little gifts nothing over $10 they are allowed to accept but anyway we had a good working r/ship but she left and so did I and well its hard to find nice people these days who want to well be nice but it seems being nice does have its rewards for all concerned so bit of useless info for ya's and a bit of a trip down memory lane for me so we all win
Congrats on the latest addition. Thanks for posting, I have been keeping my eye open and have come across three so far in SE Qld, pulled them out of circulation nice and early so they are in fairly decent condition. I will keep on the look out, not lucky enough to get a bag full though, that would be nice!
And how come James didn't get invited to a RAM industry event which was selling them all to dealers?! I am off to the bank on Friday, are they likely to have any security bags of these hanging around or do they just go to shops?
Hi All, , i wasn't aware of such a event. There was some sort of showing of the coin, where the Australian PM was at the event. I do not think any dealers got offered these coins in bags or rolls. At least we didn't get offered any from the mint . All i can say at the moment. There is something coming out close to the end of the year that is really nice, so watch this space i''ll be able to talk about it and show pictures on the 20th of Oct 2014 hope this helps James
I was hoping the '2014 Rob of Roos' dealer event was going to be a permanent feature of future coin releases, I am sure if there was one for this coin you would have heard about it! Looking forward to the 20th Oct, I like surprises
There are a few for sale on that popular auction site. EDIT - or should that be INFAMOUS auction site ..
my little story will help and it takes time and perseverance to do and at this stage I can't seem to find it but as in all things if we keep going things change. yeah used to have a nice girl in the bank on the sunny coast keep me the shinies as we called them she would save the bags for me and I would give her little gifts nothing over $10 they are allowed to accept but anyway we had a good working r/ship but she left and so did I and well its hard to find nice people these days who want to well be nice end story and new addition the 50 cent bags because the coins are so big get pretty bag marked from bashing in to each other so that is something to consider and most security companies bag well the biggest one does. so anyway wish you all well on your hunting expeditions
I work for a financial institution, I will have to keep an eye out on these when I am in the branch next.
Local shop keeper had some come though as payment for items, but gave them back out in change .. says he'll keep the next ones for me.
