I know the Perth Mint has recenlty changed the language of what is considered a specimen coin. My question is regarding the 2013 Silver Koala's. I have never seen a PCGS graded silver koala anything except SP for specimen coin. I just saw on ebay today that there is a 2013 MS70 Koala. When I looked up the mintage there is already 551 graded at ms70 for 2013. Which is larger then the entire population for all SP70's from 2007-2012. My question is are all the new/2013 and on going to be graded as MS coins by PCGS based on the Perth Mint change or is there still going to be a release of specimen coins later in the year that will get graded SP. My entire collection to date is top graded PCGS SP set. Thanks in advance if anybody has any insight!
So is there going to be a 2013 Koala coin this year that is graded SP (SPECIMEN) from PCGS??? And please don't tell me that it's that coloured koala garbage. I know that's the new carded/specimen coin this year but that is another example of the Perth Mint messing up a good thing.
The Australian Koala 2013 1 kilo silver proof coin has a mintage of 500 coins. Just found out on the mint site that the 1oz silver gilded edition of the Australian Koala series has the mintage of 5000 coins!! Didn't like the coin at all. Here's what the Pert Mint states about the Koala silver proof coin:
Theres a 2013 high relief 5 oz koala-5k on the planet- they said its the first time this particular coin has been made-they are long sold out in ms70 but there MIGHT be a few 69's left and man that coin is BEAUTIFUL-you wont find it on ebay-look on the perth mint
