I just saw 1 oz 2011 koalas for $79.35, one of the site sponsors, rest of the stuff is priced well. What is the go with that? Are 2011 going for that much? Seems crazy expensive to me.
No restrikes mate. The mintage is 500,000 (Sold-out) 2011 was the "First" of the limited strike of 500,000 coins. http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...ra_Silver_Bullion_Coin_Series_1990_-_2013.pdf There's mintages before that which had 300,000 and were sold-out example...2008, 2009, 2010 which all sold-out and are extremely collectbale! Prior to that, Dealers wanted Perth Mint to restrike earlier coins such as 1991, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007! All of the above were restruck in 2011 / 2012 and by doing so absolutely screwed the Kookaburra market. Now most people stick to the mintages that were sold-out in their own right in the year they were released. The site administrator here..."Gold Pelican" actively tries to purchase 2008 Kookaburras and many of us try to stack the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 coins as they also are starting to attract a premium. H
Im confused, I thought Newtosilver was talking about 2011 koalas but Holdfast is talking about kooks :/ So what is it 2011 kooks or koalas for $79.35?
If people will pay 79 then that's what they are worth! The 2011 koala is special though. I believe it is one of the highest mintage of any bullion coin at nearly 1 million pieces.
Doesn't matter if you made a mistake mate. The above stands for the Kooks. If you are talking about the 2011 Koala, they are the most fab-tab / most excellent design Perth have produced imo and...by the mintage records there's plenty of people who love them. http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...la_Silver_Bullion_Coin_Series_2007_-_2013.pdf The 2011 Koala coin exposed Perth's Koala c oin as their true bullion coin but...it gained a huge following not only in Australia but overseas. Many folk on popular metal forums like Kitco - https://www.kitcomm.com/ use to say don't buy Koala's especially the 2010 Koala but now the Koala series of coins are becoming very popular. The 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 coins were seen by many people as a very ordinary design and a weird background but now they are seen as very collectable especially the 2007 and 2008 coins. Keep an eye out for the carded Koala coins...they are getting very good premiums especially the 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012 coins. The 2013 coloured specimen carded Koala and the 2012 specimen carded Koala's imo are sleeper coins, so...watch out for them and stack if you can. When this dip in spot is over modern numi Koala, Kook and Lunar coins will again draw interest and perhaps gain market attention. H
Hehehe. You forgot to mention you have vested interest in the 2011 koalas." Only the 2011 - 10oz Koala which was suspened. Perth only produced 10,051 coins...which is less than the 2010 and 2012 10oz Koala. http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...la_Silver_Bullion_Coin_Series_2007_-_2013.pdf The 2011 10oz is a sleeper imo and could rival the 10oz 2011 Lunar rabbit (12,563) one-day..."maybe" http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...nar_Silver_Bullion_Series_Two_2008_-_2013.pdf DYODD. Cheers H
Start vid from 12 second mark. Lovely looking coin imo.
Well I got some awhile back for I think around $34 and I Houston I payed way to much for them but I may have actually done well out of them long term wise I suppose I can't really put up a thread saying WTB 2011 Koalas for $32 now lol
Sometimes Perth Bullion Company (Formerly Bullion Bourse) has rolls or singles of the 2011 koala's but I think there's better value in the market for other bullion coins. Sure...the 2011 is popular but perhaps with a mintage of 910,480 they certainly aren't rare. Having said that some of the higher grade coins do ok so if you can grab a roll to search through you might find one or two choice coins. DYODD. Just on Koala's...don't over-look some of the earlier mintages such as the 2010...sometimes they go cheap and have been somewhat un-loved for a few years but if you can get them at a good price they may increase in value as the Koala series continues. "maybe" http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...la_Silver_Bullion_Coin_Series_2007_-_2013.pdf Cheers H Edit PS...there's nothing stopping you aasking for below 32 bucks a coin. Bullion Bourse was selling rolls of them for around the 30 dollar mark earlier this year. Here's an idea of prices for you on ebay... http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Coins-/1...g=200&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=2011+1oz+Koala&rt=nc
A little while ago I couldn't even move any of these for $37.50 so you will do well to get $45 for them I think.
KItko in Hong Kong has the 2011 Koala listed for HKD 190.99 per coin for a roll of 20. (HKD 196.85 per coin if order is less than 20 coins) Depending on what exchange rate you get, its between 27 and 28 AUD.
