Put up a Want to Buy (WTB) thread and you may get better offers.

Not sure if you know darkclark but the 2008 Kookaburra "design" was also struck with the 2009 date, these 2009 dated coins were available in The Australian Kookaburra 20th Edition Coin Sets of which only 8,598 coins were struck. They can sometimes be found singularly, on ebay, dealers or folk on this forum. ;)

For more info on the 2oth set, see link:

See page 4 of 7 of this link for mintage figures:

I picked up one of those with the 2009 on it. It was in a mixed lot and really confused me for a while! Is the value similar to the 08 proper?

Depends where you buy and the grade.

As you can see from this seller over in the UK he has the 2008 for 60 pound and the 2009 for 44 pound.

    60

As folk know the 2008 coin had a mintage of only 300,000 and Sold-out.

The 2oth edition set coin 8,598 and has been declared (Sold-out)

The 2008 design with 2009 obverse graded MS 69 or 70 fetch a hefty premium and appear on ebay sometimes.
