Where abouts is the seller located? I know someone who might be interested. Has it been graded choice?

That's a tricky one. It was graded as UNC however when I showed it to another coin dealer he said it might be Choice UNC. The differentiating factor are some light bag marks on the coin and it still retains lustre.

So I find all these gradings very subjective...hmmmmm.

What price range for UNC and Choice UNC for this coin would be on offer do you know?

I am really not too sure, but if it is at least UNC then maybe $650+. I really have no idea though and it would be much easier to put the 2 parties in direct contact.

edit: I just googled and I am likely way off.

Last one I saw at a coin show had a price tag of $1250 attached to it, but as I have seen that same coin with the same dealer for a couple of coin shows I think it is probably priced too high. And it was only Unc on one side, the other had some detracting marks if I remember correctly.

    Hello

in regards to this coin, first which state are you in, if your in Sydney you should be able to get $1000 easy money for the coin if its a true UNC and not been cleaned.

the problem with this coin is that the majority wavy based 20c in uncirculated condition i have seen have been cleaned and lost its original mint luster. If your in Sydney and close to Parramatta you can bring the coin to our shop i'll have a look at it for you. or post a detailed image of the coin on both sides to show everyone how it looks. do not tilt the coin when your taking a picture as it gives an unreal smooth finish on the coin.

P.S which dealers did you show the coin to, they should have given you a fair indication if the coin was in original luster or cleaning have been done. the reason why i ask is that its a rare coin and would be a great idea to slab the coin for better value in the future, but if the coins cleaned the grading companies would normally give it no grade.

    hope this helps

    James

I cant see the photos but I think there is some confusion about unc and choice, my understanding that choice would only grade ms 69 or 70 and the chances of it being that are about the same as me winning lotto and I don't buy a ticket.

few places to look are platypuses nose where the 2 holes are if that has any wear on it or the swirls near the nose, queens shoulder and cheek forget about choice well in my book anyway.

people who advertise coins as choice unc at ms 64 as I see on ebay are dreaming again :D

but all this is up for debate and it will go on long after I am gone.

what's it worth what someones willing to pay for it :)

if you want top $ here is probably not the best place to sell it again JMT.

if it is kick ass grade keep it only going to rise in value :D

So you going to introduce your own grading system ummmmm?
Because if 69/70 are choice then what is gem and FDC?

I think my mentor was very old school :D

I bought a ms 64 20 cent coin and in my mind was EF at best and that's why this art will always be subjective and now these new grading companies have changed the rules from the old days not saying its right or wrong its just different to what I was shown.

so guess I better get with the program right

I was only sharing my thoughts on what I was shown like I said I can get with the program :) which is good for me just means my EF coins are now gem so me no complain :D

It's working for me and it looks in good nick. Reason I say that is because the picture doesn't show high detail on my v phone. It should go good price considering most of the wavy are very poor condition.

$1500-2000 for an UNC, $3000+ for a true choice UNC. Higher if you can get one into a PCGS MS65 slab.
