About to order 2 more 1 oz AU coins , thinking of getting 1x 2013 kangaroo and 1 x 2013 Britannia more silver being added also any thoughts on the two coin choices ???
Can never go wrong with a Roo in my opinion. The 2013 Britannia is an exciting year of issue as it's the first year with 9999 Gold and 999 Silver. Expecting it to be a future collectors item. Good choices.
Depends upon your objective and where you live. If your objective is solely to have gold, get the coin that is popular in your area and that has a low premium. In the US, the AGE & in AU, the Kangaroo. If you are trying for additional premium, the choices are much more limited. My choice is the 2013 1oz gold lunar snake and that would also be my choice if I lived in AU. The one thing to watch is dealer bid-ask spreads. A lot of the more exotic coins have higher ask premiums and lower bid premiums. So if you are buying a coin with the idea of reselling it, avoid those coins.
I agree get the roo, if you reside in australia, just because if you decide to resell it, then you can quite easily to a market that has a wider local sentiment
The other nice thing about the Lunar coins is they are thinner and with a wider diameter. Looks more substantial and nicer to look at, some would say. Having said that, I only have roos. Got into the silver lunars and decided to stick with those rather than dabbling in gold semi-numismatics. I do like the AGEs though - classic design. Might pick one up next time I'm in the States. Though only one, since the design is the same year to year.
Hi Hiho, Would you happen to know if this number is consistent year after year? Would like a link with mintages if you have any actually Ta
