I noticed a star after the serial number of a $2 bill I received today. What does this signify? Anything worth keeping or should I just toss it back into circulation?

Back in the old days (in OZ) it was a replacement note after quality control had identified a dud.

Any value to it above and beyond the $2?

    Worth keeping.
From my research, there are some star notes out there and their price is just "peanuts", but you should still keep it.
