Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone knew a bit more about this coin, I see the mintage is 60k but haven't found many for sale. Do you guys have any ideas on a value for this coin? Would it be worth sending to NGC? Here is a pandamerica link to the set. http://www.pandaamerica.com/details.asp?item=1029&grp=1&categ=1 I am looking at just this coin: http://imageshack.us/f/256/chinamountains.jpg/ Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Sometimes called "5pc china 1993 sacred mountains silver coin set". http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5pc-china-1993-Sacred-Mountains-silver-coin-set-/170758686123 I can't find anything in Pricepedia on them, maybe an email to Peter would shed some light?
Yeah, there's not much out there about these coins because they don't trade very often. The authorized mintage is 60k, but I don't have my copy of Ge's book to check his actual mintage estimates. I do know they do not grade well. About a 50/50 chance of getting a 68 or 69.
Thanks guys, first place I looked was pricepedia but didn't find anything. Looks like not a very popular coin if no one trades them.
I wouldn't be so quick to discount it... there are a lot of coins that have a lot of future potential... until recently the Bronze Age Archaeological Finds were largely ignored... now these sets are selling in their thousands. With a little bit of digging/investigating, you might find *nothing*, or you might find some hidden treasure An old proverb "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter."
Better to be the first one in than the last! I can't find them for very cheap, Found that North Hengshan for $200 so trying to gauge market value.
I love the 1990 unearthed discoveries set. I love the 1981 unearthed discovery set even more . Sadly I own neither.
