What are thoughts/opinions about this style of Kookaburra in presentation case but no capsule? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1990-1-O...79867?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item20d77d80bb&_uhb=1
Have a 1992 Kook in similar packaging, few little nicks from the owner dropping it but no toning or anything yet. I'd say it's fine and looks to be in decent condition. Can always capsulate it afterwards.
Proof is different finishing...more shinier. Where as the bullion or specimen has same finish. Can't make a set of mixed finish i guess. I believe the black pouch is used for specimen...they are lacquered with protective layer. Which does peel of over time...lol.
Personally, I prefer coins to be in capsules, to prevent accidental damage (scratches, scuff marks and dings). Its a lot easier to re-sell a kook coin that carries a premium if it isn't damaged ( bullion or proof )
I have a few that came in the black flip They are in caps now and can tell the difference from the others that came with caps. Bought PM caps for 40-80 cents so not a big deal. If the coins in good nick, can't see it makes much difference
