I picked up a handful of proof silver coins today that appear to be part of a set called silver jubilee. They were minted in 1977 and are sterling. They are in original capsules but no boxes no COA, etc. I paid $13.20 each and hope I did not get a bad deal. I have never seen them before. Neat looking coins though and not too much over melt. Some say 50 pence, 25 pence and one says 25 rupees (Mauritius?). Many different places mentioned on the coins: Gibralter, Mauritius, St. Helena, Bailiwick of Guernsey, etc. I never even heard of a couple of these places, nor had the coin dealer and he didn't want to mess with them. Was wondering if anyone is familiar with these. I figure they are probably popular over in Europe, etc. Jim
Thanks Beyond. They are like these I pulled off the web. http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces13825.html http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces38478.html http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces44089.html http://24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=1977tristandacunhacrownsilverjubilee.html http://24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=1977mauritiuscrownsilverjubilee.html There are a few more but this gives you an idea. Those are the coins I have. Thanks Beyond!! Unfortunately, these kinds of cool foreign coins (especially sterling) are sometimes not treated well in the secondary market and are treated as "melt" type coins so they throw the box and COAs away and put the coins in a plastic bag, etc., to save on space (that should be a crime LOL). I usually only get stuff with the boxes and such but I liked these coins and the price was not too much over melt. Jim
