Have the opportunity to buy one, what would be a fair price to pay for one in pretty decent condition?

That's what I'm thinking of doing... But was gold $1,900 or $1,200 when that swap happened?!

I bought a milled edge Swan dollar (mintage 1500) as opposed to the proof (mintage 750) a couple of years back for $800. It had been cleaned and was sans case,
Sold it to another stacker for $1350.00 a year later who tells me he moved it on to someone else for $2000 in bullion silver.. not a bad profit for either of us.

I have kept an eye on past listings on ebay and the range seems to be about $1000 to $1600,depending on whether the original case is included.

I have one that I am getting rid of and also trying to figure out a reasonable asking price. It's a proof coin with the smooth edge but doesn't have any of the original casing. This is my first post as I just now registered so I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to post links or pics but any help would be awesome.

$1000-$1500 would be a fair price. Dealers are selling them for more, $1500-$2000, but you're unlikely to get that much for one unless you're patient.

swapped my 1kg dragon for one of the Swan proofs last year. love the details on this coin.
really a shame that it wasn't taken on by the government...

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Guess I'll set my asking price at $1250 and just refuse to go lower since I know higher is more than possible. Wish I could post some pictures but unfortunately I guess you have to have so many posts first. Mine was an uber lucky find as well seeing as I got it for less than melt amongst some other silver coins to cover a loan I thought I'd never see my money on. I didn't want to do it but knew it was my best bet at recovering anything at all and looked up each coin with the hopes one of them would do me justice. It did.

realized I didn't have international shipping activated which i bet will help considering the coin. Guess I'll see if anything happens with it.

I have both a plain and proof c/w their original cases, some of the best I've seen. I've compared them with other MS67 and MS68 specimens and believe they both grade equally with the MS68's with fantastic tone and patina.
I'm thinking of moving them but I'm interested to know if it's worth having them slabbed/graded prior to selling and whether this would add value or not? I kinda like the fact they sit in their original cases, putting them in plastic and having empty boxes to accompany them seems a bit odd.
    Thoughts?
