According to my edition of Mexican coinage ... the following. Dos Pesos 1.6666 grams .900 gold .0482 AGW 1945 mintage 140,000 .In comparison to highest mintage of 4,200.000 for the 1920 issue. The listing also tells me there were re-strikes issued between 1951 and 1972 that were mostly dated 1945..Odds are this is a re-strike ,but you never know Still and all a damn fine coin.
In the US they're a common low-premium gold coin. Funny how low the premiums on Mexican gold is in the states.
Coin weighs 1.667g times .900 is 1.499g AGW (actual gold weight) equals $73.89USD if spot is $1533USD. They are a very nice low premium bullion coin. It takes 21 to make slightly over an ounce, you can get 42 in a dime tube easily.
For some reason Mexican gold coins sell for barely above spot here but the Mexican silver coins all seem to have very high premiums. I've got some 50 Peso coins, 37.5 grams of gold at .900 fine; they are huge and very tough coins that sell right at spot. Make great fondle pieces, can't damage the value; it's not like pulling a Lunar gold dragon out of the capsule and flipping it around. Virtually all of the 50 Peso pieces are restrikes.
