    Agreed!

Actually have no idea which type I ordered -- and I don't really care.

Might be all the same, might be a variety.. Wasn't really clear. Believe they're the 1622's, anyway. Possibly antique finish.

Check out the photos in the sold listings on eBay under "silver cob Carr"

Each is unique. DC & DE did an awesome job.

Been out for almost 2 months, and nary a peep here.. We're slackin'!

Unless some have been keeping 'em quiet for selfish reasons? ;)

Some people might look at these as "meh," but I'm going to give credit where credit is due when it comes to genius.. :D

I think they're awesome, as they contain many elements that I look for in really cool pieces. Read that CoinWorld article, especially.. Lots of thought & effort went into making these little beauties.

Would love to get my hands on some of the color-toned Ag's, but not going to hold my breath on that. Good luck to anybody, and be prepared to pay up if mintages stay extremely low.

My guess is that I'll be receiving the more "common" antiqued 1622's, which is certainly fine with me.. I can't imagine even these being exactly high-mintage, in the end. Probably depends on how much shipwreck silver they have, and what else they have in the works. Moonlight Mint typically puts out pretty low mintages, which is both a blessing & a curse.

Already a fan-boy of PG&G, and also have a couple pieces from an earlier DC/DE collab.. When they put out some nice stuff, they put out some *nice* stuff!

Curious to how much shipwreck Ag these contain, but doesn't sound like much. Bit of a downside, but still really cool, nonetheless. Turning otherwise "junk" into some beautiful works of art, IMO.

Did a quick YouTube search, but didn't find anything on these.

Though I did stumble upon somebody else doing something similar in commemoration of the 300th anniversary. Heard of the mint before in passing, but never really looked into them until now.

Not totally my thing, especially for those prices, though still pretty cool. Wish he had been able to capture the cutting & striking, but did a nice job..

Yeah, I can imagine. Pain-staking work. Though I guess it can be a bit more on the crude side, given the nature of the originals.

Would hate to get near the end, and then goof up & have to start over, heh.

Have any photos of your finished work?

As for Saint Augustine, I went through the check-out process, just to see.. Automatically brings you to the PayPal check-out page, in case anybody was wondering, since they don't really state that at their site (that I could see). Ships world-wide.

And these are sort of growing on me. Maybe someday I'll pick up a couple?

    I found this yesterday too.:)

This quite interesting idea. I might buy one or 2. Looks like APMEX are the only one selling it. Mint has all sold out.:/

There have been some on eBay, as well. Based in the US, but some ship internationally.

Better prices than Apmex, too. Plus, get to see the actual piece, which can vary a lot.

Ordered mine from a small US dealer who I've done business with before.

They sold out shortly after my order. Besides, don't think they ship internationally.

Anyway, liking this Saint Augustine stuff more & more. Pretty cool for what it is.

Found a video of his (replica of another coin) where he shows much of the process, including cutting & stamping..

    Wow, that was quick..

Got my Moonlight Mint commemorative cobs in today!

These things are wild.. They actually do look like a type of pirate coins!

And I'm not kidding when I say I almost want to go buy a small treasure chest now..

Got both of the 2 varieties that Apmex is selling..

    http://www.apmex.com/product/88222/1622-atocha-commemorative-cob-shield-design

    http://www.apmex.com/product/88220/1622-atocha-commemorative-cob-pillar-design

The most-common 1622's in antique finish, which is what I was figuring.

My only real complaint is that there might be some darker ones out there, like they applied a bit too much of the chemical(s).. I got one that's borderline.

Otherwise, these are very cool. I know I certainly don't have anything else like 'em!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go put them in air-tites, just like the real pirates did back then.. ;)

The dealer I got mine from apparently has a 1715 in Au (1-oz 999) -- one of the handful -- available for sale.

    Does, indeed, ship internationally..

Do you have access to a CNC milling machine? I thought they could be used to make a pretty decent die, probably still have to harden the die afterwards but it might speed up the process and you can make another one when you break the die.

    Nice piece, though.

Commemorative cobs in Ag, only, for me!

FYI, the 1622 commemorative cobs do *not* fit in Air-Tite brand direct-fit capsules..

The diameter of these is around 30mm.. But just too thick! Can't close them all the way.

A while back I had transferred my Lunar Goat Skulls into direct-fits, as they jiggled around too much in the original capsules..

However, they are thick enough for the cobs. They slide around in there due to smaller diameter, but good enough for now.

I suppose if somebody wanted to throw some of that black foam in there to stabilize them, that would work.. but I don't do foam.

And for those wondering, they sell the cobs cheaper than Apmex here (USD cash price)..
