    Hi Guys,

Just a question about my first purchase a 10g Pamp Suise gold bar. Can you please comment about the authenticity as I am a little confused about why the serial number looks different to the rest of the markings and also why some I have seen have a letter in front and this has only numbers ?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131913921111?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search but couldn't find the info.

    Thank you

if you notice the seller's previous sold listings for silver eagles all of them have a W mintmark on the reverse, which makes me believe this seller is selling fakes possibly including your 10g Pamp gold bar.

are you able to get it xrf-ed at a local dealer?

Thanks for the reply guys. I really appreciate it. It appears I was far to hasty in my purchase. I thought it looked ok until I realised later about the letter before the certificate number.

I will see when I get it if I can get someone to xrf although not sure thats possible in Newcastle. Might be a good trip to sydney though.

Anyone know pf places that may be willing to do this in Sydney ?

Don't take longer than 30 days to put in a dispute, even less if you suspect it is fake.
If you paid by PayPal, refund should be straightforward

I mentioned this seller in another thread. Look at his feedback. He sold a 10g gold bar for 500 when spot was 567 or so. So.... who sells real gold for below spot.. no one

avoid ebay altogether. why risk it when you can go thru trusted dealers, either on here or brick and mortar shops.
don't worry, you aren't alone. beginners in every field make mistakes, it's part of the learning process.

Thanks, thankfuly I paid with PayPal. Its seems to be getting more likely its a fake. The seller has said that its posted and now austpost have no record of it yet. Its supposed to be here wednesday if i cant track it by then I will lodge a dispute through paypal.

Lesson learnt only buying from here or dealers now. Rookie error.

    Thanks again all valuable feedback

Had it xrf'ed at KJC sydney, as they were kind enough. Turns out it was gold plated.
Contacted the seller who issued a full refund. All's well that ends well.

4 people who left a good feedback, chances are they will never know, until they try to sell it.

Just a thought on your next purchase, buy from reputable eBay dealers, such as PerthBullion or APMEX (as example and I'm not endorsing or taking any commission)... those low feedback eSellers are an instant definite "red-alert"...

Best is to pop-in to local BU dealers and hand out your cash... cause you know what you pay for, make sure you have your receipt.

Sadly that is true, which is the more frustrating bit, especially at $500 a pop.

I once bought a number of 1 oz Ag coins off someone who had advertised them on Gumtree. Took them to get xrf and several of them turned out to be fake, so went straigtht back to seller and let him know. He was stunned as he said he bought them from a local bullion dealer himself (who knows?) but at least nice enough to give me my money back without any argument.

The thing about the certicards is, it is one extra step for people to see if it a fake.

A real naked 5gm bar would weigh within a tenth, but in a certicard it could weigh anything.
