Saw a couple of coins on ebay. Does anyone know if the "100 mills" coins are legit? They do have 999 silver on them but look real dodgy. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2012-1oz...20871?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item25836b0cc7&_uhb=1
DON'T TOUCH Fakes with silver plating at the most There is a post around somewhere on the subject Best to avoid fleebay unless you know what your buying & who from
"Are the coins 1troy ounce of .999 silver, or are they plated?" "Dear octapotamus, Hi. I don't make the coins so I am not 100% sure. To be honest I think they are plated. They do have real gold and silver on them - crazy_coins"
Just plain scum. I'm sure crazy_coins knows exactly what they are as they probably bought them for 10c each and the wording in the listings is very carefully written to fool people as much as possible but not outright claim they are pure.
Yeah, dodgy as turtle. since contacting that clown, he's sent me this: "Dear octapotamus, http://bit.ly/19wj9dU Hi would you be interested in this item. I need it sold today so you can bargain the price - crazy_coins" I'll offer him 5 cents
I still see the 100 mills 1oz Year of the Dragon round with a buy-it-now price of $12 on eBay. not sure who is buying them.
100 mills coins are either fantasy coins or outright copies. They are silver plated. WORTHLESS as an investment of any nature. THEY ARE NOT BULLION. NO-ONE WILL BUY THEM FROM YOU, EVER.
Unless... ...you are in a coin club, I can't explain it but the members go nuts for them, mind you they only pay about $5 each for them but we have one member who buys a mixed bag at bulk discount and then brings them in and sells the lot. No figuring some people. But in general, avoid them like the plague, same with anything labelled German or Tibetan Silver.
Dear all, you should all be a shame of yourselves. I am love these coins. I have purchased the whole collection from this buyer. He is very nice and gives me huge postage discounts. You says his items are fake and dogy but where is your proof. Have you ever purchased from him, I dont think so. How dare all of you say false statements. They are worth more than 10 cents.
When a new member joins a BULLION forum asking about buying these coins, yeah, they're dodgy. Nowhere does "100 mills" get explained as plating, yet they get described as 1oz, 999 silver etc. The number of people who have been caught out buying these thinking they've invested in silver is disgusting. Fully suspect that you're the seller of these (or similar) items - coming from a bullion dealer, they're a blight on the industry. More money to be made flogging these on eBay than iPhone covers I guess.
I sell of behalf of a company, they tell me what to write in the description and all i do is post them
F**k off scum. If ebay didn't hide buyer identities I would message every one of them to tell them they are being ripped off. Sincerely hope all the people you rip off read this thread and come after you and make your life hell.
So it's confirmed, <coin-lover> is the same <crazy_coins> of eBay noteriety, 100Mills seller and general low-life. Also, a certain someone is PMing me saying my eBay account is being suspended, an empty and desperate threat if ever I heard one. What a hilarious little episode this is.
100 mills are usually very close copies of existing coins or bars, often without the word 'COPY" printed on them. Once they have been bought, even if they are well advertised, there is nothing to stop them being sold on as genuine, I think this is where a lot of the distate comes from. The rest is due to the advertising which can read as if the whole coin is 1oz of silver or gold. I am not even sure what '100mill' is meant to mean but if the seller doesn't use the word 'plated' in their description then they are being deliberately ambiguous. why not write, "Silver plated copper copper coin" unless you are trying to trick people into making a mistake? I have never come across the "I only write what they tell me" defence before but it makes sense if resellers are just selling items without knowing much about them. At $7 you would not think that this was real silver, unless you thought it was a bargain or a mistake in the listing, it is also not a direct rip off of an existing design. Fake might be pushing it a bit far, misleading would be more like it. $7 for a collectable round? The cardboard Woolworths animal cards are on eBay for up to $2 and it is not like you can get much else for $7 these days, plus as I said, some of the coin club members love them and they know they are not real silver, I don't think they even give a damn that they are plated to be honest, they just like the designs.
