100 Bitcoin ATMs coming to Australia

    Will this be the one that needs to store a scan of your face and hand for verification purposes ?

    Only know what is on the websites of the two types - Robocoin and Lamassu ( went and looked after Load of Bullion told me to :D )

    The picture above is the Robocoin one.
    Because it can both buy and sell bitcoins it needs to ID you. From their website:


    The Lamassu one can only take your cash and send you bitcoins - so no ID needed

    Apparently it's not just your palm.
    It also scans your license, takes a picture of your face and then somehow verifies your face matches the face on the license !

    guess anyone that's grown a beard since getting their license will be in trouble :lol:

    I would be wary of investing in this sort of tech in Australia - a review of Bitcoin's status from a designated service perspective is in the works with AUSTRAC. May well be in the future that it gets treated like bullion sales under an AML/CTF regime with KYC requirements.
