So who is sitting comfortably on a stack of $10 silver coins knowing that if it ever did get really bad then their stash has the legal tender back up?

I sold mine but i don't anticipate that silver will go that low.

Are there other (silver) coins with greater legal tender status? I don't know of any in Australia.
I have some $15 coins but those are Al/bronze not silver. Of course gold is higher but we would be in serious trouble if we were relying on their legal tender status to save us.

Around the year 2000 when the spot price of silver was in the $4 to 4 range, the coin dealer here in Bundaberg has told me that collectors that had bought the $10 coins from the RAM at prices u/c $20 plus and proof in excess of $30 were taking them to the bank to get $10 instead of the going spot price of $6.

Hell, if that happened to me, I'd just chuck them in the bottom of the draw and forget about them.
Of course, feeding hungry kids might not allow for that.
