I'm wondering, since I'll be doing most selling on SS, what is - if one exists - the most easily sold brand in 10 oz bars. Just wondering what the consensus was before I go buying something that won't sell...

Also, why do people on here have such issues with direct buying off the PM? They seem like competitive prices in comparison to eBay and stockists. Plus they offer free postage

Perth Mint does *not* offer free postage on bullion - just their numismatics.

"Most easily sold" is not determined by brand.
    It is determined by price.

If you take a pristine quality, untarnished, unscratched and in perfect condition Southern Cross 10oz bar and an ugly, gouged and scratched Ainslie 9995+ 10oz bar and put the SC up for $500 and the Ainslie up for $300, I can guarantee you which will sell first and fastest.

The Perth MInt does Not offer free postage on Bullion. From memory its $17.50 per Kilo plus 1% insurance. so if you buy 1 x 10oz bar or coin its the same postage as 1 kilo .. just the 1% insurance changes.

Most people have issues with perth mint, is because of some of their policies, and the fact its easier going down to you local bullion dealer and picking up the bars.

If you buy a 1kg bar, you actually cop $35 in postage because it's just over 1kg :roll eyes:

Then it definitely works out cheaper to go to your local dealer...they offer better prices than perth mint in some instances!!

And the lesson for today is:

Ask a question but never mention perth mint.

When i first saw Scottsdales i couldnt wait to own one..but have never got one.I used to watch how theyd go and reaction was so so,and of course some brands of bars and coins seem to have more (or less) premium than others on SS and also dealer websites. Its like the Dragon coin thing, when they first came out everyone went mental...now the hype seems to have died a bit.I think Scottsdales are an awesome design IMVHO,but its wierd how people think..i reckon some designs are more popular than others no doubt...but when it all boils down...ITS ALL SILVER.Stick with the well known brands i reckon, and a nice clean bar with no dents or spots is great.Theres something about Stackable bars, rooly nice when you stack a few up....feel like Duck McScrooge!! (you young- uns Google that!)

Yeah Perth mint is good for us Perth guys unlucky for eastern states stackers they also take a fair while for delivery whereas dealers generally already have the stock on hand

And I stand corrected. I have no idea how I got it into my head that they offer free postage. I (wrongly) remember seeing somewhere that I was elligible for free postage for a purchase of greater than 300AUD.

Thank god you sorted that out... More money to put towards silver or booze

All things being equal (price etc) then Perth Mint and PAMP are the most popular.

You are right about the free shipping, so long as you don't include bullion...

In north america I'd go Johnson Mathey, Engelhard, Scottsdale, or even NTR (some people hate them but in my opinion silver is silver).
Being you're in Australia and plan on selling through SS I'd go Perth mint, or pamp as there's a lot of bullion snobs on here who get caught up in hype rather than focusing on fundamentals (like profit, and number of oz.s)
