I want to warn you that when you're paying for 90% coins based on what they should be theoretically times face value, be careful of worn ones. I see three; one walker, the barber quarter and the merc dime. Try to get less circulated coins. the 90% composition does not stand up well to circulation. Weigh those two coins i mentioned. I bet your dime weighs about 2.25 -2.35 grams (should ideally weigh 2.5) and your walker half weighs about 11.8-11.9 (should ideally weigh 12.5) and your barber weighs 5.7-5.9 grams (should weigh 6.25 grams.

not trying to shoot you down or make you feel bad about it, but since that's your first purchase, I thought I might tell you so you can learn from mistakes I've made. not a big deal - but something to look out for. 1960's coins are the best junk silver - they were circulated less.

by the way, awesome monarch bar!

I didn't purchase any of the coins...just the monarch bar and the A-mark round. The coins I found in a cigar box in a house I was rennovating.

Thanks for the advice, though! :)

well, more power to you! that is awesome. I recently found a heavy sterling chain necklace on the ground! i traded it in to my dealer for a one ounce round. awesome. my dream is to one day trip over a thousand ounce bar on the sidewalk and then throw it over my shoulder as I keep walking... and of course, to have one day a cubic kilometer of silver ... bahaha

Sh!t, just lost my response somehow. I'll have to do it again....

I don't own the Babylon book but have read it. Does this mean i can add 50oz to the stack instead of the 100?
Another book with saving classifications is the Millionaire Next Door (1996). Seems okay so far. The theme is to live within your means, don't try to impress others with material goods and live thriftily.

I'll include how the calculate their savings categories after this weekend.

re PM's, i'm striving to achieve the 1000oz club then will concentrate more on the gold. That doesn't mean that i don't accept a good deal on either metal whenever payday comes around though.
As to what category i'm currently in... nope. :D

I have 4 copies of Richest Man in Babylon - I lend it out to people all the time. Does this mean the equivalent of 400 ozs for me :D :D :D

the best group is being a stacker...even one ounce is more then 99% of the population/...plus best to keep actual amounts to yourself.

Abundant silver, income gold. But I thought Michael Pascoe said gold doesn't generate a dividend? Gold doesn't generate an income?
    What a moron....

since you're well located, you might like to consider this:

Looks OK to me and it might help you stack without losing out too much. It will also help with the main point of stacking - which is avoiding inflation.
Apparently you can still buy rolls at the Banks with no premium - dollar for dollar swap. Collect a few kilos, sell them off and convert to silver, or swap for silver. I can see them becoming barter material in the US in the future - and you have a failsafe on keeping at least the value of the coins.

800z is a very nice stack congrats:)

I'm almost at 500oz now, getting harder to stack with the price of silver these days but I too see 1000oz in my sights.

mmm.... just adding up my stack - I think I've just made it to the income stacker. For someone madly into spreadsheets I am remiss at actually recording what I've bought just recently.

How long have you been stacking? Are you working? That is a seriously impressive Age to Oz ratio :)

This place is getting more and more like a property forum in a bull market. "10 IP's by 2012" type stuff.

    All good......it's bound to happen.
