CL what are your thoughts on the FTSE? My guess is that it's going to drop a little lower in fear before the vote then jump back up when it doesn't happen. ...even if the Brexit happens, the GBP/FTSE will drop, but with saved tax spending you have to assume the GBP and markets will be better off in the long run.
This is generally my view, however if there is a broader negative reaction to a Brexit we could see a European banking crisis emerge which would affect British banks and the British economy for a lot longer than anticipated. Britain will be better off in the long run, but the bottom may take some time to be made before rebounding.

At the risk of sounding like a conspiritard, I have a different take on the Brexit Play. First up I don't think Brexit is likely to be the financial catastrophe it is being made out to be. I reckon it's mostly fear mongering from the Remain campaign and the recent share market drop is as much about other systematic issues and things like Chinese Yuan hitting new lows (just like August 2015) more than anything else. I reckon Grexit was actually a bigger threat because of the potential/likelihood of follow-on major debt defaults from the Greeks socialist government if they left the EU....but I digress. I believe that the Fed and other central bankers have been trying to prop the markets up with jawboning and stimulus for some time now and trying to kick the can down the road. All they have to do is pause those efforts and volatility and fear will very quickly return. This same volatility and fear can be blamed on Brexit and may well spook the British voters into the Remain camp if they can be convinced that Brexit will bring on financial Armageddon. So my play is expect some heavy selling in the lead up to the vote and then buy ON the vote. Regardless of the likely outcome. I'd expect selling on a Leave vote outcome, but not so severe or sustained before the central banks resume their market support and a rally kicks back in.
I was wrong. Looks like there are other ways to scare voters into the remain camp that don't require risking market sentiment.

I think that is worth a separate thread, but for a start the Founding Fathers in their Federalist papers held that all men are created equal (hence nobody is naturally the ruler of anyone else, hence 'consent of the governed', Natural Law & human nature. That reflects my world view but did not help form it. I am really just a conservative by DNA it seems. I will give Old Soul's question more thought. I DID embrace Feminism at the tender age of 15. But that has wrought tremendous damage to my life in that it almost destroyed my relationship with both parents and I wound up not having my own children (very much regret. Unspeakable sadness).
The Constitution and the Bill of Rights were philosophically inspired documents, based on undeniable truths if you like, that are arrived at logically. Many many people hate the situations here they are sick of the EU (i am from Holland) And its fear the EU creates like without the EU u econemy collapses..Well we as west europe (UK Netherland Germany Scandinavia France Belgium) we keep putting money in for the east and south we cant keep bailing out Greece and soon Italy and and and... The low intrest rates we have here kill our pensions and make the avarage person poor but its the only reason the south can keep going on cause with there massive debts they would collapse. But if u know the history of fiat money its the bank who always wins with the loan + intrest system. I really really really hope the UK steps out but i am afraid the votes are rigged and the outcome is ready before the referendum has taken place it will be a win for the remain camp with just a fraction like 0,4% more..But it will be a hard battle (just like the anti EU party in Austria) they lost cause of 0,1% of the vote..............Who believes that over and over...I dont. But for now its fear fear fear the markets will collaps and then teh outcome will be 50,4% for the stay in the camp and then the markets will rise and shine and the nice music we hear for so long starts playing loud again..
