If / when Perth Mint revenues start falling too much due to milk-spotted coins, maybe they could fire up some molds & start pouring some nice swirly bars again..
Just wondering is any of these do anything for you bar guys, just going thru my SDB and thought I would see if anything half special here [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/2651_320.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/2651_322.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/2651_323.jpg][/imgz]
I have never really thought about the difference of bars and makers, I have been thinking today that I have now been stacking for over 37 years, started at 13, working at a market and would often find deena's and zacs in the till, and I would often get a few dollars worth of them in my $25 wage, still got them I reckon too. Also used to buy a kilo bar a week in my late teens, they were always the abc poured kilos that are everywhere still, used to go into Bourke st up near exibition st, and still have some of the original receipts, got some under $200 a kilo, but most were $200 to $250 range. Anyway I emptied out my SDB last week to see what I had in there with the intention of selling some of my bars as I am now concentrating on kooks and lunars, but have just had a thought that all the abc kilo bars were bought before CGT came in in 1987, so it would probably pay me to keep them. But I will start offloading some bars (I do have a few, pics were a sample) and some that were bought after 1987 as well as boxes and boxes of numismatics that has been horded over the years, which I just had a brief look thru and found some good finds, like a three coin proof rabbit s1 set as well as proof kooks and lunars and a lot of other PM products. I have been a lurker here for many years, but I am keen to now make my hobby pay, as I have sustained an injury that will probably make me change my job, anyway thanks for looking and if I have anything in the pics that floats your boat, drop me a msg cheers grant
Interesting post format... You must be the longest stacking stackers on here. How many were spent seriously accumulating?
G'day House, I have never really seen it as seriously accumulating, I just go through phases, problem is that I cant normally sell anything, no problems at all buying but selling does my head in, I suppose its called hoarding. So just like AA's I have to admit the fact. I suppose it was drilled into me early on that silver was money, I was taught to put the old money away, It is more than just a mindset it gets in your bones, I have made and lost small fortunes buying into gold mining companies and have even spent many weekends some years back looking for the stuff, so you can say I have been bitten by the gold bug. Most of my numismatic purchases have been on ebay so over the last 11 years or so, and most were not much more than spot unless I wanted something in particular, some have paid off well but most are still worth spot or not much more, though I did buy the 1987/88/89 nugget series coins and S1 gold lunars amongst other coins direct from the mint, so by all means not all was bought from ebay. Probably the last 5 or 6 years I have been seriously buying lunars, and then with the remints of the kooks I was fortunate enough to have funds to splurge. Anyway I am sure I am not the longest stacking stacker here, but it is definitely in me blood and would love to somehow make a semi living/early retirement out of it cheers Grant
Hi Guys, I have acquired these, A Gerald Benny silver ''paperweights'' would anyone on here have any info on them? I've found a few things on the net but really doesn't tell me that much, only that they are paperweights and seem to fetch a decent premium over silver. The smaller one weighs in at 245.5grams and the larger one is 490.5grams. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers, ECC
