I like PB but both because I am in Melb but more so as it a year earlier I prefer the 2015 kook and ugly goat more at goldstackers
in germany the first dealers offer 1oz coins ( presale ) 20/each which is @ exchange rate 1.61 = 32.20AU$ (tax of 7% is included in this price) i dont expect to see a higher price than 26Au$ @pos a bit more of 20Au$ could be worth to buy directly in AU this year be prepaired to see a quick sell out at low silver prices this year
UUUPPPSSSS Why expecting these hugh prices ? Lunars looks like to me not very popular watching the trades and the discussion right now. 1oz Horses sold on a similar POS level 3 month ago @30AU$
So you can buy this years release and some from last years release, and some from the year before because they are all so popular that you shouldn't worry about the huge premium.
It is amazing how fast the three coin proof sets used to sell out. The demand has certainly changed on them.
I think you will find the demand for these will differ depending on what coin in the series is released as some not as popular as others e.g. Hard to find the Tiger Dragon & Rabbit sets
Just got message from one reliable dealer saying 2016 Monkey (1 oz Silver) will be SPOT+$12, so current backorder price=$32.75 each. A little over my expectation, any comments?
I'm saying as a gripe and it's a rant directed at no one in particular. Dealer in Oz buy these at the SAME price and Kookaburra and Koala coins, yet overcharge customers relatively. Sourcing these coins from overseas may actually be cheaper.
Premiums in germany for lunars 1oz were much higher on release than in OZ. 2008-09 it was i little little bit more than koala, kook. 2010 they start to rise and topped with 2012 release. No more comment on dragon :-( Also snake and horse was hugh in germany, around 60%. With the goat they become smaller again. For the monkey now they are compared to koala, kook on a 4year low but with low POS it is still 55%. Do not expect to get them overseas cheaper
Also, in Wu Chen'engs book 'Monkey Magic' (you might know it from the TV show or movies), monkey got kicked out of heaven for eating from a peach tree that granted immortality. That's why they handed him over to Tripitaka because he could fight all the demons and go to India to get Buddhas scrolls. Monkey - Our inherent restless nature Peach - Imortality and overcoming the fear of death. Put the two together and combine them with the patience of a Buddhist monk you get the wisdom of Buddha's scrolls. All of the Chinese Zodiac animals have their own 'objects' - Dragon is always with a Pearl, Goat is always with Grass etc - and each has its own symbolic meaning based on what the astrology is supposed to mean.
