Working on it. However today I bought a sterling silver cigarette case, two Danish candle stick holders, a pink depression glass milk jug, and a carnival glass decanter with five glasses. Cost the equivalent of 30 fifties, so I'm behind this week on my quota.
About three years ago I went a locxal bank bank anbd asked if they had any 1966 50 cent coins. They had 52. I bought 46 for face value - $23. The teller kept the other 6 for himself! Sold them for $460.
I had a similar incident happen sulla with $80 of face value at a bank. I still remember the noise as the teller counted them into bags. The ring of the silver coins was music to my ears
I was just thinking, why doesn't a mint release a coin to same exact specs as round 50's?? You would think their is a ready market for them, and a good return on cost of making them..
I've always thought that it would be a good idea, they would have to make them .999 fine to avoid taxes so they would have to be 20% thinner, but a 1/3oz coin with the same design that's the same diameter would be a winner. I'd buy them if they were a reasonable bullion price. The round 50 might end up being the Maria Theresa Taller of Australia.
