So, $66 with 6 days left to run. I know they are limited to 1.5 million but are there really 1.5 million people in Australia who are going to want to collect these? I know my family members put them aside if they find them, but only to give them straight to me. Seems very odd that the RAM would make something that would appeal to collectors and then not try to capitalise on that by selling them in overpriced packaging. Why only make 1.5 million when last year they made 23 million 100 years of ANZAC? I am getting mixed messages, do they want everyone in Australia to have a memento or are they producing limited edition highly collectible coins as some sort of lottery? Do they seriously want collectors to go around bothering the cashiers in banks? Are they doing this so the people who distribute coins can make a bit of extra money? Is it so that the average punter can get one in their coin and stick it up on eBay? Not sure what the idea is, or why I should care. If they were being sold in rolls I would probably get some and if I get one in change I will put it to one side, but I won't be bidding or even buying one for anything over $6 because I can see that this is now going to be a 'thing' every year and I do this for fun, not to increase my stress levels.
I hear you Jiz, with the mintage of 1.5M, which roughly pretty close to the other colured mintage...they should kept it in rolls...distribute it through previous channels. That way, collextors can keep going with their collection. Wouldn't RAM better off keepimg their distributor which create the primary market happy, in which turn will make the secondary active? Now there will be a bunch of dealers...getting hundreds of phonecall/email, asking if they hVe rolls?
I like it. The red design at once reminds me both of trench systems, and coloured lifesaver buoys like the boys may have seen on the navy ships taking them to Egypt and then before they were dropped onto the beaches. They'll be rare as hens teeth, with that mintage.
Just been told by a couple of dealers in Melb Canberra mint will NOT be supplying dealers . Looks like the only source will be the banks
Hi All, I have received 67 e-mails and 32 calls today PLUS around 30 odd people walk ins asking about this $2 coin. I sound like a broken record at the moment, so YES the inquiries are stacking up. James
Just asked my friend who works in bank, he said this Thur will have new coin delivery. Asked him to reserve for me. Not sure new coins coming this week or not. Last time he helped me few 1k bag of roos and green one so im not so worry. Saw few ppl look like coin dealers (very old) asked about them as well in bank.
You need to have the info plastered all over your front page, might cut down a few of the queries. Will you be popping down to the bank to see if you can sweet talk the cashiers?
Some luck duck already got a bag Fleebay item no. 121627877771 Just waiting for the bank to call me an say there in...I hope
Looks like it has already gone over $400 for the bid, perhaps even higher by the time the listing ends. I wonder which of the banks will be the best option to ask about getting a bag/roll of these coins (or would you need to be a customer first)?
Need to find out how quickly they are being released? The whole lot in one go or staggered. The purple ones came in waves last time...
Looks like N.S.W is the only state which have them at the moment just by going what is selling on Ebay and it's crazy at the moment.I can't believe some of the prices these coins are going for and stupid me could of got them for $18.95 yesterday afternoon from a seller on Ebay who was selling them for that price buy it now.I could of purchased as many as he had and now put them on for around $30+ and they would sell like hot cakes.I to have had no luck here in Melbourne but I have a few places and a bank on the look out for me.
I agree with you and just did a quick check and now there is a seller from Vic selling a few but I'm not paying $60 for a $2 coin
+1 I remember when the Incuse 2000 Millenium 50 cent coin was discovered, they were selling on eBay for about $80 but I think they are much less now, last time I checked they were $30 but that was a while ago.
lol you would be shocked to learn that they are selling raw for over $100 in some case and graded mint state you are looking at $1k+
OK, time to dig out the albums... I know I didn't have any in particularly good condition but I had a couple presentable ones I picked from circulation, just got to remember where I put them...
Just seen one person score 1500 of them [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/6954_2_red.jpg][/imgz]
