Spectacular Chinese medal! The Chinese have perfected high quality, extremely appealing ultra high relief medals. The Perth Mint can learn a whole lot from the Chinese in this area.

    Wow, sick designs & relief!

Now those are something I'd buy if I had the funds.

    Suggestion? Tripod. :p

It's too bad re: the really low mintage, on some level.

Do I want to know how much $$?

EDIT: Had to watch again..

Yes, I didn't get the same COA, unfortunately. I bought pieces at a time. But I know the dealer that Andrew and I bought from has about 4 sets left. They are pretty pricey. But what do you expect, there's only a 100. Just think if the Perth Mint created this kind of quality and only offered 100 sets. They'd be asking 100K and they wouldn't be for sale, because all their employees would buy them...for they too know quality craftsmanship when they see it. The Olympus thing, ain't it.

550.00 per medal. 300g of pure beauty. Oh, and did I mention that there are only 100 of these. LOL.

They are incredible! Big step up from Perth Mint Olympus. Why is it such a small mintage?

Because they actually like their collector base. :D Oh, and I can hear the naysayers out there...'there aren't enough people to buy them, so why make more than a 100?' Yeah, okay you ignoramus (not you silver kook) go do some home work on Chinese rare medals. As in the Pagoda set, the Longevity, the Gods of War and Wealth, The 1985 ANA Great Wall, 1984 Great Wall...need I say more??? Get back to me if you find one, and 2nd, when you do, let me know the prices on those medal, oh, and 3rd, what the issue price was, and 4th what their mintage number is (rarity). You're dreaming if you think the PM will come close to anything like the Chinese. Ain't happening. :p

Kook this wasn't directed at you...I'm just playing chess with those out there that may come back with stupid arguments. LOL. By the way I love kooks too. ;)

You can lead a horse to fresh water, but you can't make him drink.

I say that because what you are doing, Barsenault, is great and well intentioned... by providing this forum a good look at some amazing (silver) Chinese medals. But you shouldn't feel responsible or at fault if some of the stubborn horses here refuse to nourish them self with the good stuff.

Trusted seller. Great guy to work with. And the best part? He gives the best prices He's selling his for 550, and on eBay sellers are selling for like nearly 700.00. Oh, and did we mention that there are only 100 minted. :)

    barsenault,

Given the often low mintages, you might not want to turn *too* many people onto these types, LOL.. ;)

I've got a couple slabbed Chinese medals (with box & COA)..

While nothing like these beauties (though also not as expensive), they are still very cool. The designs, relief & quality are impressive. Happy to have them in my collection.

I understand some people's apprehension about medals like these, and perhaps rightfully so.. but just know your seller & know your product, and one should do fine.

Thanks for sharing these pieces in video format, and for providing some info.

    More, more, MORE! :D

I think that China and Mexico are my favorite countries when it comes to coins and rounds. :)

I think NGC makes a very thick (fat) slab for these ultra high relief medals.

No, I only have the Great Wall of this spectacular series. I wish I had the money for the entire set because I would definitely buy the other two medals to complete the set.

The detail on all three medals is astonishing.

A coin and medal writer and expert, Frank Wang, had written a recent article stating that he believes that the Chinese medal market will soon be the new hot market in China because he sees sentiment and interest growing in Chinese medals.

It's with medals like this new series that I can see why what Frank Wang is asserting is probably right on the money.

i really like big silver medal with reasonable price.

There is one ngc slab for the Great Wall which grade as ms 69.

I start to collect copper, bronze and brass medal.

I just bought a brass wrong hero version which is far below mintage as compare to the 84 Great Wall copper version own by barsenault.

Are u in Great Wall 84 brass and silver proof. Many fake Great Wall in the market.

I am still a little confused about the minting year for the Great Wall medals. The Plum Blossom (error medal) silver is 1984, yes? The corrected spelling version (the Beacon Tower) is 1987, yes? NGC slabs both versions as 1984 but I think the Beacon Tower is 1987.

If you know of a graded Plum Blossom silver Great Wall medal for sale, PM me in private with the info. I will sell my first born to get my hands on that medal. :)
