I find it rather entertaining how people have linked the fall of the AUD to a whole range of reasons. US GDP data articles are laughable. If its just because of that why is NZD at 10 year highs against us? I mean who writes this stuff hahaha.

What's not so funny is if this housing bubble goes now. It could get real ugly real fast.

Bargains to be had real soon I imagine ;)

    Let's hear your explanation then.

You realise NZ is a different country, right? We could give you some facts but you'd laugh them off as "reasons".

Here's one "reason" for the change in the AUD/NZD exchange rate. Have a chuckle at this:

"Real soon now" hey? Fifteen years ago, and every year since, it has been "real soon now". Glad to see people are still keeping the dream alive.

Put simply I think 2015 for AU is USA's 2008...

It's ok. Either way, you wouldn't be the first to be completely wrong.

I think that this will be the case also for Australia. Possibly in the 4th quarter.

The AUD fell again overnight on talks of another RBA rate cut.

    Nowhere to go but down.

Yeah the media thinks a rate cut is likely on Tuesday.

I wish it goes as low as possible.. Then:

    My metal will go up
My overseas investment will go up in currency terms (time to cash out and send money back to aussie).

Employment will pick up again as we are going to export things out again.

I'm not completely convinced the RBA will cut on Tuesday. The CPI and PPI figures do indicate a cut is likely but I think they could give it another month

What will we export? Resources have dropped considerably. Our manufacturing base has been steadily eroded over the last few decades and so it would take some time to re-establish competitive industries. Maybe agriculture would be a big winner but it may not add significantly more jobs.

Most likely is that we will "export" our real estate as foreign buyers will find it cheaper due to the falling AUD. Sell off more prime agricultural land and water rights. Combined with a possible fall in rates, it may inflate local housing prices denominated in AUD.

Yes.. That is what i hope as well.. (real estate going up).

Just bought my mc mansion.. And going deeper into debt..

So it looks like everythings works as expected..

With industry.. we will have to create some new one (business opportunity hint hint !!!!)

Not everything is bad.. And there is always 2 sides of the coins.

    I hear ya.

I am paid in other currencies and every time the AUD goes down, I get a a few extra % when I send money back. No complaining from this corner!
