It does look like that except (of course) it is 50 oz. Very chunky, thick squat bar. The underside is a bit pitted from a less than perfect pour. I was looking at the 10 oz thread over the past few weeks/months but this bar just doesn't seem to fit any particular category. There isn't much info on 50 oz PM bars.
It looks like the F swirly variety Picture Chunky except this one is Landscape Chunky which is Type D I am going to put a 20 oz variety as soon as I get hold of the rest. I guess 20 oz is even rarer... especially those older ones..
So after all this talk regarding 50oz bars I decided to head down to the Perth Mint to check what they had. To my luck someone came in the day before and sold them a 50.00 oz silver bar with a serial number on the back. I bought it straight away.
I've been told many times that they melt down what they buy back so never even asked at the counter. Any extra premium added?
I can see them gaining more of a premium in the future, I sold an old type not so long ago, an odd weight serialed type. Got a nice premium over a standard 50oz. I Doubt the buyer will sell it in a hurry and I'll no doubt regret selling it one day
I bought my bar with no additional premium added. I was told by perth mint that if its an odd weight bar they will melt it down. Any other bar is considered just bullion despite any historic significance.
Heresy! Travesty! Barbarians! Am I right in thinking that 50oz and 20oz went out at the same time roughly?
