Is anyone taking a punt on these?? Mythical Creatures Griffin 2013 1oz Silver Proof Coin On the upcoming releases page of the Perth Mint website.
One of my favourite mythical creatures from my childhood so I'll be buying one just for that and would expect to flip it easily enough if I wanted. 5,000 mintage is pretty low for these proofs. This guy is highly recommending getting as many as possible and then sell on for $150+ Ozbullion was doing an EOI group buy earlier this month. No pics though due to an embargo as it's a "Coin Club Australia commissioned product struck by The Perth Mint."
+1. You should watch his other videos, he seems to push Perth Products quite heavily. It seems like every Perth mint products he mentioned in his videos can be flip for a good profit. You should watched his November release video when he tried to push you to buy three-headed dragon and the snake square coin set.
on power coin they have presales on some of the upcomming perth releases so you can see some pics and info on them on there says the other coins in the set will be , unicorn, phoenix, wherewolf, dragon i like the coin but i dont know if i can start collecting another set, i might pick one up then see if the second coin is any good, i think that second coin will make or break the set
I love lots of art.. especially fanstasy.. guys like this are the equivilant of Stock pump and dump's arent they? Not sure if anyone on this forum would be swayed by such marketing.. more like its for the downies crowd who buy the modern numismatics (its not a real numismatic to me!). I am not suprised powercoin is all over this, next they will be taking the offical Perth Mint image and putting there own watermark on it. Powercoin seem to specialise on high premium coins.. nice niche market.. not sure its in the best interest of the hobbiests buying there jank.. reminds me of Basketball card collectors prior to 98 before the market fell off a cliff.. they were LIMITED EDITION with pretty pictures too.. I would only buy if money was not a concern, as money is a concern i will not buy! 1for1
hes been doing it for a year, so some people are clicking the link, i have no problem with what hes doing, its just hes doing it in an underhanded way, why not come out and say that he has a link in the bottom of the video that pays him, and make a warning in the video that it is for flippers not collectors, he just pushes every single thing he sees regardless if itll make money or not, and he quotes his past good calls which if you didnt get your order really quickly you would have risked a lot of money for a tiny return,.. i think the coin will do ok but not because of the reasons he stated.
The sad part is new collectors that new to the games does not realized how difficult it is to flip some of these coins. They forgot there are fees on ebay and paypal they have to consider. a coin $115 + ebay and paypal fee, you need to sell over $130 to break even. Plus, don't forget on ebay, you are competing with powercoins and other dealers that get the coin for less than 115 and listing on ebay is cheaper for them as they own a store on ebay. Nothing wrong with buying these coins if you like them and don't want to pay via secondary market.
I got a Perth Mint catalogue recently and the griffin coin certainly caught my eye, but the catalogue always ends up on the bin after a quick browse because the prices are just over the top.
I got it too and had to explain to the mrs why 1/2 an ounce of silver for $65+ shipping is stupid even if it has a heart and dolphins or a cute little echidna or even a dumb looking baby snake on it
This chart of the sales from 2AM to 3:30AM from the Perth Mint January 2013 Releases shows one coin has done well via web sales.
the holey dollar and dump does looks good. But I prefer the 2003 which is 3,000 mintage with 2oz of silver
