only paper/plastic money can not be re-issued.

stamping on coins are perfectly ok, just no > than mintage limit.

since the dies are legitimate and the metal is the same.

Notice no mention of 'mintage being declared' for the Kooks.

Koala: "No mintage limit applies to these coins for 12 months. However, production will close at the end of 2012 and The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage."

Lunars: "Except for the 1 kilo release, production of these coins will close at the end of 2012 and The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. Production of 1 kilo coins will cease at the end of the series. A maximum of 500 10 kilo coins will be produced on a mint-to-order basis. However, production will close at the end of 2012, when the coin's actual mintage will be declared. The Perth Mint will produce up to 300,000 1oz coins. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the series, whichever comes first."

Kookaburra: "Only 500,000 1oz coins will be released."

Love the way everyone just speculates rather than finding out from the source.

Just called Tim, he says they are originals and not freshly minted.

Apparently they are trying to get some more in, only 8 left atm,

    Matt

Whatever the spin, just chalk it up as more great reasons not to purchase them, Unless they are old stock someone has traded in; then these are not a particualrly grand invesment IMO, for starters the information is more mirky than a puddle of mud... also given apmex etc is also selling them and the way they have no toning..

I guess its still better than Maples or eagles but not worth going mad over.. those old libertads on BB look better or the cheaper 2011 Kooks which we know were minted in there current year.

agree the 92 was a nice design but as i own some from 92, im pissy that the PM may have once again compromised my investment by tampering with supply 2 decades later.. soon my expectation of PM will to be to arrode any collectability there prouct has which will stop my addticition to there otherwise highly attraction bullion products.

These must be combersome to stack.. not sure if anyone else has space issues but the downside of all this capsuled product is it kills safe space! Another Question, once you have paid $38 for your roll.. dont these only get $40 if sold individually anyway.. never a massive bargain but still good if your a Kook Fan.

I think the term getting some more in! needs to be explained more.

    for example from customers?
    from overseas dealers?
    from the mint?

if that can be clarified then it puts alot of people at ease.

just to clarify the price that BB has them for is a bargin.

I have asked about them to BullionBourse, but have not received an email either to yesterday's email nor to today's. Sad to see, definitely would love others to keep me updated on how it is all going and what they look like. (condition wise)

who really caers if they re-minted them? they are allowed to up to 300,000 maximum mintage limit.
Quick look at bullion sales show 198000 where sold so there is a shortfall of 102000.
The price BB sold them sor was a good price regardless of whether it's a maple, canadian moose, lunar whatever.

Tim has just replied to my email which states:

"These are not newly minted coins. We do not have the coins at the moment, however we should have them early next week. We have been told that they will be in round capsules however since we do not have them we can't guarantee that."

I guess that does not really help me much. Round capsules but not newly minted?????

^ its ok to call, just get your invoice #number, or you have made the payment to them :)

else one call to confirm will be sufficient, since BB also have access to this page and will be able to response here.

    they are busy, enough already.

if you email, just cc all your friends :p

I would rather have bought a lot more of the 2011 rabbits at $4 over spot. However, given the recent actions of the PM, my choice may not have matter much in the future. The PM seems to be oblivious to the fact that through greed, they are damaging the market for their coins. While I sidestepped the dragon mania because of the US prices, I was planning on buying some snakes and a lot of horses. But if the PM continues down their current path, I will be selling off all my kooks and lunars and buy an equivalent amount of ASEs. Not buying the 1oz dragons means that that I no longer have complete lunar 2 sets and that will make selling the rest of the coins easier. The premium difference between the kooks/lunars and ASEs will go into gold.

I've got 20 of the kooks coming.
Restrike or not, I'd still rather these over other bullion coins to be honest.
