This sub-forum inspired me to get off my backside and take a look through my sovs. These are probably the most interesting from the stack (apologies for the amateur photos): 1883-M Bluesheet seems to indicate this one is semi-rare? Do you think this is worth grading? Is grading popular in Australia for sovs? I buy graded pandas only because they are popular in the states.
The 14S is a very nice and well struck coin, but no worth to spend money to grade. The 83M only grade VG.
I would have a hard time grading the Young Victoria any higher than VG The 1914 S maybe an EF Maybe someone here can do a better job from these pics. Might be a good idea to bring it to one of the meets in Brisbane and let Projack have a proper look.
Indicative auction values in recent Downies catalogues would indicate reputably graded pre-dec Australian coins from PCGS or NGC command a higher premium. Definitely exceeding the $14 grading fee.
Australia, 1914 Sydney Sovereign PCGS MS63 $495 (MS63 is cUNC) The cost and the postage both way and the chance to lose it won't make it economical to grade it. http://www.drakesterling.com/coins-for-sale/products/1914-sydney-sovereign
