Pre-decimal Empirical something or others from another land I thought contained silver ended up being cupro-nickel. Darn it! well they were dirt cheap & now they're quickly approaching intrinsic value. Sixty years after minting mind you :(

Started my silver endeavor on feebay with the Silver Proof Sets US Mint. I has purchased two and was so proud of them as their melt value was just about spot at the time. Bought my third set for way under spot, only to realize when package arrived, it was just the box the coins came in....no coins. I went back to description and noticed in last line it stated "no coins"...we keep it on the mantle under a quote "if something looks to good to be true, probably is"...it sits next to the 100 mill bar my husband purchased on one of his first buys he paid spot for...lol

Started my PM with Cook Island Coins of the Great Explorers from Franklin Mint
 (Yes I know but I was young and foolish back then.)
Mainly because I was a Mathew Flinders fan back then.

Then 3 sets of 9 gold coins bought at issue price from the RAM

Floral Emblems of Australia $100 unc and proof 1/3 oz
Sold a few yrs ago and broke even after inflation

Floral Emblems of Australia $150 proof 1/2 oz.
I still have them as nobody seems to be willing to pay much above bullion price for them

And a 2oz 99 kook because it looked nice in the display case.

I was scrounging for cheap silver on ebay (hahahahahahahaha) late one night when I noticed a 10 oz englehardt bar with 2 bids 24.00. The auction had a couple of days to run so I thought "hey look at that, a 10 oz and the mainstream seeems to have missed it, I may get it cheap" (hahahahahahha). Anyways I kicked off a bid, 50 bucks to stake my claim and went to bed. A day or so later I tuned in for the kill and saw to my disbelief my bid was the highest. "WOW" I said to myself, "everyone is asleep on this baby" 10 oz bars were going for about 280.00 at the time so I set up for a late snipe at 300.00. As the minutes ticked down I was flicking back and forth to SS reading about all the great buys members had snagged lately. Anyways, seconds to go and my bid was it...I had this bar in the bag for only 50 bucks whoopee!!. Just as the last 2 seconds ticked over I realised my blunder...the Auction title in large bold read 1Oz Englehardt Silver Bullion Bar. I had way overbid on a 1 oz bar. I won it. I received my little 1 oz bar in due course. Overall it cost me about 56.00 including postage. My faith is strong, eventually my investment will pay off.

Hey guys.. I made same dickhead move today.. I paid $30 for two Post war Half crowns... they are cupro-nickel.. later found out from google. Might give the antique shop a call and ask him for a refund (I doubt he will do it).. or maybe store credit? Who knows. The guy was friendly and recongnised me from a month or so before so who knows.

If thats supposed to be William, I'd suspect a certain someone paid the designer of that coin a little bit extra to thicken up that hair. Everyone knows he's a balding twat. lol... and she's a gold digger.
