I think everyone should go back and carefully read the websites of the companies involved. ABC (Syd) the big one and ABC (Vic) were both formed in 1972 and were probably affiliated together as bullion (selling companies) before splitting. ABC Refinery started, at least in name in 1978. It and ABC (Syd) are both owned by Pallion (big conglomerate) thus strong linkage while ABC (Vic) probably can legally retain its name but just acts as a retail selling company selling amongst other brands the ABC products. Who knows what was happening in the years before splitting, before ABC refinery came onto the scene (renamed perhaps) and perhaps the discus throw logo was used at this time before (I suggest) 1978. In which case a bar with this logo would be special. This is speculation only and it would be lovely to have a researcher pin down the real facts. Gosh it was only 40 odd years ago !!!
on my searching of ABC's elusive heritage I looked at Perth Bullion and discovered they have a large supply of vintage ABC 1K bars for around $730 for those with the squirreling instinct. Paulha
